How is it that arson fires come under the jurisdiction of the ATF? Granted, they did have experience with the Waco fires but beyond that, what?

How is it that arson fires come under the jurisdiction of the ATF? Granted, they did have experience with the Waco fires but beyond that, what?I'm guessing it's because they can be reliably counted on to make sure whatever information they get that implicates the wrong people never sees the light of day again.

You are correct. Last I heard, under the Constitution, the federal government has NO power over police matters within a State.
But getting the fed back in the tiny constitutional box it came in is hard when it takes so long for the question to be asked.
That should have been the first question.
