As I understand it, Gray wasn’t arrested for running but for possession of a switchblade knife. I don’t know why this should be illegal, but it would certainly land a white guy in jail, no questions asked.

As I understand it, Gray wasnt arrested for running but for possession of a switchblade knife. Why was he chased? Because he ran. Once they caught him the police needed something to justify the pursuit.

I'm going to guess that possession of a weapon would be considered a probation/parole violation.

Had that not happened, he would not have been arrested (because the officers would not have searched him and found the knife).

Thyyd have to have probable cause, if the blade wasnt visible not sure how theyd get that.
