A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray banging against the walls of the vehicle and believed that he was intentionally trying to injure himself, according to an investigative document obtained by The Washington Post.
The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmates safety.
The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoners version.

Side note: The daughter Nord unit recently took up archery. Believe me when I tell you that she realizes the error of that unfortunate sporting choice ;)
Dad: Got your bow?
Daughter Nord unit: Yea it’s great!
Dad: I used to be an adventurer like you...
Daughter Nord Unit: Oh hell...
Does that other prisoner get a better plea bargain now? The occasion of the current unpleasantness in Baltimore is not the first time I have heard about “rough rides” in paddy wagons.
Hannity had on Michael Baden, I could have told Shawn before he opened his mouth that he would have poo pooed the idea of self injury.
Baden is in the tank for all this stuff against the police, doing pro bono work for Michael Brown family etc.
As far back as the '70s, maybe even the '60s, the guy yelling "Police brutality! Police brutality!" was a comedy staple.
The great lie upon which the duped hang their hatred and justify their lawlessness is just getting some clothes on. The image will not change in the manipulated minds.
Rick Leventhal said he spoke to a Baltimore cop for background, and off the record, but once Megan broke the story he confirmed that the cop said exactly what the guy in the van said. Gray was trying to get the cops to take him to hospital instead of jail. Easier to escape. He already had 5 warrants. He knew how to game the system. I could see him slipping, and hitting his neck on the edge of the bench. They thought he was faking, because he had been doing it the whole ride.
Mr. Gray was killed ‘tis true
It could have been me, or you
His was surely an awful plight
To be sent to hell that fateful night
The cops involved must now pay a price
But burning whitey is not nice
Your peaceful caring empathetic hosts
Are hurting those who give the most
The ones who pay for your peaceful host
To burn their city into toast
Tell me how these caring folks
are the helpless ones who give the most
If you’re worried bout cops and politicians, you see
Your caring friends hurt you and me
They give cause for worse police
And for government to further fleece.
You are kindly but misguided much
Your erstwhile friends are simply looting, lying criminal thugs and vandals
They should be shot en masse
Sorry that last part doesn’t rhyme but it would be poetic...
“Internal decapitation will go a long way to convincing people youve been injured.”
Ya gots to have some bruises to back up your claim!
It wouldn’t surprise me that someone who ends up in the back of a Paddy Wagon wouldn’t know when to quit.
If he was seriously injured prior to being put in the van, then it becomes less likely he was making loud banging noises. On the other hand, the police could have made a deal with the witness/prisoner to say what he said for better treatment. A whole lot of unknowns, I await the tox report and autopsy.
Until recently, the potholes in my town were so bad that every ride was a rough ride even at 15 mph.
A deal being made between police and this prisoner is certainly a legitimate possibility.
I also await the report.
I can see that happening as well.
I wish the rioters would stay home and keep out of this.
“The first lesson in gaming the system. Claim to be injured to get some leverage over the Police.”
So, to recap: First, he wasn’t injured, but he faked being injured to “game the system.” Next, he injured himself, in his continuing efforts to game the system. Next, he broke his own neck (3 vertebrae) and crushed his larynx.
Am I getting that right? Low that what you think happened?
Not gonna happen after the mayor has “given them permission”(paraphrase), and Obozo has backed her up (see what’s happening in NY, and MN?).
No I do not know what is going on there. I’m ashamed to admit that I am watching Godzilla on hbo2go -_-
Riots, and arrests in NY, and Protesting in MN. Same BS all racist cops, all the time!
“Am I getting that right? Low that what you think happened?”
Hey, it’s a theory. Stranger things have happened. He could have been injured in the takedown and whatever was done to subdue him. He could have been injured in a “rough ride” in the van. He could have injured himself in some kind of drug-induced or low-intelligence fury.
Take your pick. All have about equal probability in my mind.
It seems to me that these basically concurrent demonstrations are being purposely planned and organized.
It seems fairly clear that someone is trying to spark nationwide demonstrations or even riots, and they have been trying to do this for some time and at every possible opportunity.
It would not surprise me at all to learn that opportunities are being created or manufactured on purpose at this point.
Someone seems intent on lightning rodding a revolution in America.
See 1600 Penn Ave.
He wants an excuse for Martial Law.
He will fail. All Liberals live in a bubble. He thinks we will all react the same way his liberal buddies do when threatened by 13% of the population.
He and they will be gravely shocked when they move from their big city cocoons.
