British exit from European Union would cost UK billions, German study warns

A British exit from the European Union could cost the UK as much as €300bn (£215bn), or 14% of GDP, according to a German study.

The report from two respected German institutes warns of far-reaching consequences for the whole region should next week’s UK general election pave the way for a referendum on EU membership, as promised by the Conservatives, and ultimately a British departure from the bloc.

Even under the best-case scenario, where an independent UK has a trade agreement with the EU, the costs would outweigh the benefits, claims the study by the Bertelsmann Stiftung (foundation) and ifo Institute.

The economic losses for Germany and the remaining EU member states would be significantly smaller but everyone involved would miss out, the report says.

British exit from European Union

Then it'd be like 1940.

Germany controlling the continent, England off on its island.

I didn’t want to be the one to say it. Financial dominance is still dominance. And Greece asking for war reparations and electing a nut doesn’t’ bode well.

Unless that’s $300 billion per year, that headline obscenely twists the news pro-EU. If it IS $300 billion per year, it’s obscene NOT to add the per year.

$300 billion total cost is a tiny amount for national sovereignty and freedom.

Of course as Nigel Farage pointed out if the UK left the EU they would be free to pursue their own trade agreements with any country or countries of their choice.

Theres no getting around it, Germany and the UK are both very creepy nations.
Beautiful to tour, and filled with nice people. But their governments and banking communities both see the USA as a military force to be used for their goals, and our treasury as a thing to plunder.

Neither is truly a friend,,,
