Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Proverbs 23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Proverbs 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
Mom got it right ... and her son ought to thank her for keeping him from getting into anything STUPID and dangerous.
Agreed!
Oh, no, you di’n! Whack!
Good for that mom.
Sorry lady, you raised a thug, through no fault of your own, and without a husband, no doubt.
I agree.
I hope the kid is not too stupid to understand how much his mother loves him.
That woman gives me some hope that the African community is not completely lost.
Single mother of six? I’m afraid she’s part of the problem not the solution. I mean it was gratifying watching her beat up her kid, but she could do us all a big favor by having her tubes tied.
D@mn, she opened a can, didn’t she?
She needs to marry the father
Shepherd, there are things about raising a boy properly that you just don’t understand. Stay out of it. Or do you want her siccing the Adult Protection Services on you when you raise your voice to one of your friends. She’s doing the best she can, and I applaud her. Poor Boy though. He will never live this down.
A can of whoop**s! She probably saved her son’s life. Hopefully he honors her and fears God.
polygamy is still illegal, for now
I understand this mother’s reaction completely.
She has a rough road ahead of her trying to keep him on the straight and narrow. But, for now, her son is still young enough to get a whoopin.
Not exactly true. Depends entirely on the type of rod and how it is wielded.
Marry which father though? With six kids, most likely there are more sires than just one.
“The single mother of six was unofficially dubbed ‘mom of the year...’”
Please forgive me if I don’t join in the apotheosis.
“’He has been in trouble before, and he knows right from wrong.’”
But does he know is dad?
Where IS his dad?
It would be good, imo, if all people living in poverty [and otherwise] cared this much for their kids.
