Mom got it right ... and her son ought to thank her for keeping him from getting into anything STUPID and dangerous.

Shepherd, there are things about raising a boy properly that you just don’t understand. Stay out of it. Or do you want her siccing the Adult Protection Services on you when you raise your voice to one of your friends. She’s doing the best she can, and I applaud her. Poor Boy though. He will never live this down.
