As I write this article, the ancient city of Sodom is being excavated on the Northeast tip of the Dead Sea in Jordan. The Site is called the Tell el-Hammam Excavation Project, led by Dr. Steven Collins of Trinity Southwest University, College of Archaeology.
The excavation project has uncovered evidence of an advanced society replete with Greek architecture, art, and an advanced economy. There is also evidence of a cataclysmic event, similar to a nuclear type explosion, that leveled the city at one point in its history. After the cataclysmic event, perhaps the most significant finding is the relation to Sodom to the Minoan Greek Civilization where pederasty was practiced (similar to Homosexual Adoption).
Since 2000, the number of gay couples that are adopting children in the U.S. has risen significantly, according to census data. Statistics from 2009 show that about 19 percent of same-sex couples claimed they had adopted a child on their forms and this number is growing significantly every year. Technically, it wouldn’t have been “Greek” anything. From 3200–2000 BC, the latest time in which Sodom was destroyed, on some of the Greek islands was the Cycladic culture, overlapping and subsumed by the Minoan civilization from 2000 BC forward. Then the Myceneans (1900–1100 BC) gradually absorbed the Minoans. Only after that did Greece, as such, exist, in a dark ages that only properly ended with the first Olympic Games in 776 BC.
I disagree. The Minoans were in full bloom and Crete is thought to have been destroyed around the same time as Sodom.
My point is that they were a different people from the later Greeks. Somewhat like calling the Indians who lived in North America “Europeans”, before the Europeans arrived.
I will have to do more research. In my previous studies I thought that the Minoans overlapped with the Sodomites. I do not think that Archaeology is precise, so I admit that it is debatable. You may be right!

Did some research on this one. It appears the Minoans originated the practice in the area. It spread from them to the invading (Greek) Dorians and from them to other Dorians on the mainland, such as the Spartans, and thence to other Greeks.
Lots of Minoan art is quite explicit on the subject.
Let's assume Sodom was contemporary with the Minoans. What I don't get is the claim that a city such as Sodom, located well inland, would be likely to have any direct connection to the Minoans.
AFAIK, Minoan influence was limited to the Aegean, and perhaps the Black Sea and Central Med. Seems very unlikely to me they'd have much influence in areas inland from the eastern Med, where Phoenicians would not take kindly to competition.
Would seem more likely that Sodom would have more trade contacts with Yemen, Ethiopia, etc. than with the Minoans.
