The U.S. economy ground nearly to a halt in the first three months of the year, according to government data released Wednesday morning,as exports plunged and severe winter weather sidelined construction projects and helped keep consumers indoors .

The gross domestic product grew between January and March at an annualized rate of 0.2 percent, the U.S. Commerce Department said, adding to the picture of an economy braking sharply after accelerating for much of last year. The pace fell well shy of the 1 percent mark anticipated by analysts and marked the weakest quarter in a year.

The economy had expanded at a rate of 2.2 percent in the final three months of 2014 and at a rate of 2.4 percent for the year.

Right now a hard-working entrepreneur can make a fortune selling “Recover Summer VII” t-shirts in liberal neighborhoods.

What is racist is the reported continued sluggish growth of 2,4% for the entire year.

Any legitimate growth is 3.5% or greater and comming this long into a’recovery’ we should be seeing 4-6% growth at least every few quarters and 5% for a full year ayt least once.
We have returned to the Great Depression with EBT cards and SSI substituting for bread lines and soup kitchens.

For something to “grind”, doesn’t, it, first have to be moving at a rapid pace?!

If growth under Obama was 4-6% the Dems would've failed by not working hard
enough to destroy Capitalism, our economy.

All those young'uns who voted for him will revolt against the Democrat machine.
Kids and the young workers are always revolting something, and they're it this time.

Sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the U.S. Commerce Dept. falsified some data to keep this report of GDP in positive territory hoping conditions improve enough for the next report to show genuinely positive growth. I’ve come to expect such deception from bureaucrats pressured by the Obama administration.

We had the same haranguing back and forth in April 2014, after one of the worst winters ever recorded in the Upper Midwest and Northeast in many years for the 2013-2014 winter, one that just about ground the economy of that part of the continental USA to a halt.

A much better indicator will be the 2nd calendar quarter of this year, now we just ended another really bad winter in the Upper Midwest and Northeast.

This should have been much higher.
Last years, Q1 GDP was pretty dire, and with that as a base, along with low energy prices, it should have been much higher.

Oh wait, I forgot! Obamacare taxes kicked in, full force, Q1 2015.

I think because so much of the US economy happens the Northeast and the Chicago metro area, any bad winter that affects the Upper Midwest and Northeast tends to really skew the GDP figures downward. A far better indicator are the other three calendar year quarters for GDP measurements, where the weather is of course vastly better.
