The baton of freedom: Our guns
wnd.com ^ | 4/29/2015 | Ben Carson

Posted on 04/29/2015 6:56:32 AM PDT by rktman

A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of speaking at the National Rifle Association (NRA) Annual Meetings in Nashville, Tennessee. During my speech, I made it clear that I am extremely pro-Second Amendment and that I would never allow anyone to tamper with that right.

I understand that the Second Amendment is vitally important. Why do we have the Second Amendment? Our founders recognized that if our nation were ever invaded, we would be a much more formidable group of people and could help repel outside forces if the citizenry had the ability to aid the military. That seems far-fetched these days, but maybe it is not so far-fetched, particularly if we do not solidify our borders. There are people watching us all over the world, and they include radical Islamic terrorists who are willing to get in here any way that they can. And if they were to arrive here, we need to be able to fight them, especially if we have an administration that will not fight them.

Hmmm. Well, I'm just wonderin' if this is Dr. Carson's latest take on the 2nd amendment since he has had to adjust his view on it already. Sorry Doc. You are either in all the way or not at all. You can't be partially preggers. After all, if ain't brain surgery.

Didn’t click the link, sorry. He seems to be on board with foreign enemies... what about domestic?

Sorry Dr. Carson, I’ll take Ted Cruz’s statement and understanding over your any day:

“Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story described the Second Amendment as the palladium of our liberties. It is foundation to free men and free women being able to defend their homes, their families, their lives and liberty, and it also serves as a fundamental check on government tyranny.”

Enemies domestic as well.

If the 2nd amendment falls, so do all the rest.

Sounds like Ben has had a talking-to re 2A. He’s working hard to erase his earlier Christie-like comments on ‘reasonable’ gun control. It’s a good step in the right direction but I want to see how he reacts when the left attacks him on this. Does he defend 2A forthrightly or does he equivocate? We’ll see.

I'm trying to figure out how to vote for him even if I'm not still alive. ;)

Until the election, Cruz will get volunteer support, and of course, donations of cash from me.

When in tongue in cheek and Devils Advocate mode, I often like to point out that if the Indians had been well armed, they would have sent C. Columbus, the Mayflower etal packing BEFORE ‘we/they’ had a chance to overwhelm the populace.

I find it hard to call them ‘Native Americans’ because they were here BEFORE the name America was attached.

Keep this up and ‘they’ will start calling people African-Americans just because they happen to be black.

Of course call Charlize Theron an African American and you raise eyebrows even though she was born and raised in Africa with her ‘SIN’ being born White.

“”“We also gave those who wish to destroy space to do that...” “ LOL! Not according to her. The media “twisted” her words. Well, yeah. That is unless you read the transcript of what she said. Would she ever lower herself to say that she mis-spoke? Nah. That’s only for conservatives to apologize. As for Dr. Carson. Massive fail yet again on his nuanced view of the 2nd. Possibly he should never again speak of the 2nd since he becomes a foot in mouth doctor whenever he does.

No go for me. If you have to keep readjusting your view of the 2nd, then you never really understood it in the first place. Simple daffynition of “infringed” should suffice.

Roger that. One of my buddies son married an actual African American. Pretty blonde gal from South Africa who became a citizen. Now that’s a REAL African American. Only now, she’s an American only. As to the the occupants of this country before the pilgrims showed up, I believe they crossed a land bridge in the Aleutians from central Asia a LONG time ago. Of course the land bridge is now under water due to glow-bull warming sometime in the past. Due to SUV’s of course.

Just move to Chicago and you’ll be able to vote even if not still alive!

The PBS show "American Experience" did a series on Chicago. In one segment they talked about political corruption over the years.

They reported that one woman, who lived in Indiana said, "I've been a Democrat all my life, and when I die, I want to be buried in Chicago where I can keep on voting Democrat."

I am a great proponent of REASONABLE GUN CONTROL which I define as a 6 inch group at 200 yards using a 1903 Springfield with open sights or the same group at 400 yards using a 300 Win Mag with a high quality scope.
