An extensive study done by the Pew Research Center has yielded some fascinating information regarding the trajectory of world religions over the next four decades.
As of 2010, Christianity was the dominant world religion with roughly 2.2 billion adherents and Muslim's were second with about 1.6 billion adherents. If current demographic trends continue however, Islam is expected to catch up to Christianity midway through the 21st century

They might be leaving a denomination (especially those that have become apostate and no longer believe in or preach the Bible as the Word of God) but I seriously doubt they've given up following our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
If they are claiming that to be true, they were never, believers in the first place!

Most of the mainline denominational churches have become liberal and apostate.
Apostate is leaving the faith, or deny the faith, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I did not “parrot” the article(it is not a poll). I am trying to make people aware of what is being written about Christianity today.
In my comment I clearly stated that the author claimed this, not that I was stating it.
If you believe Americans are too stupid or weak to confront what is being written and are not able to discern bias then that is your opinion. I disagree. I think good Americans and good Christians should be aware of what is being written and be able to analyze what is true and what is false.
If they are mega churches does that mean lots of people go there, why ditch them?

As well, the Roman Emperor Constantine along with the Roman Catholic Church perverted God's law, the 4th Commandment that begins with REMEMBER by moving the Sabbath day of worship from the last day to the 1st day of the week because it was both politically and religiously expedient. This is not meant to bash Catholicism but it is simply the facts of the history of Christianity. God never changes nor does His word but man has himself certainly changed God's word so it better fits into man's world. Those who are deceived by Satan continue to allow the perversion of God's word and His law to stand.
What people need is not even so much lowercase-t truth as in facts, but uppercase-t Truth as in reliable God. You can boast, even correctly, about having all your theological facts down pat, and yet without that God all that is going to do is puff you up. Because you need God even to react correctly to that lowercase-t truth.
Incidentally, what Jesus said people ought to be hungering for is “Righteousness.”

Stereotypes abound and often they are incorrect.
Congregations huge and tiny are susceptible to being cults of personality. That is a problem as old as the epistles. When they are huge, however, the problem pervades the surrounding society more.
The seven churches listed in Revelation would all qualify as mega.
Most churches avoid discussing sin and avoid teaching prophecy like the plague. These churches never criticize government or popular culture.

The word is actually “No one” not “The gates of hell.”
The gates of hell will not prevail against “the church” as a whole; all believers taken as a group.
Christ can deal with Christians individually in one sense and collectively in another, and individual congregations can be doomed to dwindle and wink out without losing anybody’s salvation. Congregations that have gotten collectively set in their ways are susceptible to that. Nobody there wants to adjust according to the urgings of the Holy Spirit so they get “spewed out.”
All should be taken in proportion. Just because politics is the closest thing to our eyes does not make it the most important thing to us, any more than a quarter is bigger than the sun because we can put it in our eye and block our view of that heavenly body.
We are growing because Pastor Steve is preaching the real word and people hunger for the unfettered truth.
That’s right.

Which is to yield to the influence of the atheists, who want to be able to puzzle everything out in their intellectual brains...
There is nothing wrong and everything right with touching and feeling IF THE OBJECT OF IT IS CORRECT....
