The lesbian couple turned away by a Gresham bakery that refused to make them a wedding cake for religious reasons should receive $135,000 in damages for their emotional suffering, a state hearings officer says.
Rachel Bowman-Cryer should collect $75,000 and her wife, Laurel Bowman-Cryer, $60,000 from the owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, an administrative law judge for the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries said in a proposed order released Friday, April 24.

I am disappointed you have chosen this path.
These are not funds being directed towards the commission of crimes
but to help a family with 5 children feed, cloth and shelter themselves
in the face of the loss of their livelihood and seizure of their assests
and give them the ability if they so desire to mount a challenge to the judgement, to defend themselves.
I hope you reconsider your decision. Knee-jerk reactions to the loud voices of a few can alienate a much greater body of your current supporters.
It will be difficult for folks not to see a political choice being made by gofundme management and to respond accordingly.
Anyway, it is your business and as I said I hope you reconsider
if not I’m quite sure there are other methods by which we can help the Kleins...
...and others in the future.
Cheers,
So perhaps there is an address and name for direct donations?
It can’t be that easy, even Freepers rolling over!
This is the Totalitarian Mindset disguised as “feelings.” The LGBT group is about destroying anyone who disagrees with their lifestyle. I ask this question: If I were a photographer, could I pay damages to someone because I refused to photograph porn photos for a magazine?
Now that the names of these miscreants have been published, perhaps their emotional suffering has only just begun.
They have been charged by Oregon authorities for raising money for the bakery owners?
I would not be surprised if they try to identify the individual donors and start filing charges against them as well.
This latest, outrageous development, needs national attention.
See a few posts up the explanation posted by another FReeper - Per GoFundMe, the people who set up the fund have had charges filed against them by the Oregon authorities for “discrimination” for having set up the fund to help the business owners, so they are apparently having to pull it since the fund has essentially been declared an illegal action.
Nevermind, you already saw it.
They literally want to wipe everyone who merely has a different opinion of them off the face of the earth.
That needs its own post to bring attention to the fact the Oregon authorities are apparently prosecuting the people who set up the fund to help the business owners. This is total madness if that is true.
It needs to be heavily publicized nationwide - this is the type of tyranny that exists when liberals are in charge long enough. This is the sort of thing that has been happening in Canada, Europe and other places, and now it has made its way here.
That needs its own stand-alone post to bring attention to the fact the Oregon authorities are apparently prosecuting the people who set up the fund to help the business owners (not merely the fact that GoFundMe shut it down). This is total madness if that is true.

Pathetic is not the word...authorities filing charges against people for setting up the fund (if that is accurate) is downright frightening.
This family is in my prayers.
Where are the Oregon GOP??? Is the party dead in that state???
This couple should be in nationwide ads to bring focus why states need RFAs. So unfortunate Conservative orgs aren’t doing that.
Yes it is!
I’m pretty emotionally damaged by this too. I feeeeeeel I am entitled to $50,000 at LEAST, for my suffering.
I want money.
If you were in Oregon, your post would probably be sufficient enough to allow authorities to file charges. Scroll up and read what has now happened to those who set up the GoFundMe account to support this family.
They should be jailed under sodomy/homosexual crime laws.
I think that when they say “the subjects of the campaign” they are talking about Melissa and Aaron Klein. They are saying that since Aaron and Melissa are being accused of breaking an Oregon law then the gofundme campaign has to be suspended. What gofundme is doing is completely wrong but I am not aware of Oregon charging anyone for trying to set up the gofundme campaign.
The Torah forbids sexual sin. Violators should be punished, especially those who openly, brazenly flaunt their perversion. Respect for G-d’s law must be restored or the nation will be destroyed. At every point evil must be confronted and destroyed. The power to do this comes from the Almighty, but He will not grant this power to those who forsake his Torah, in its entirety. Christianity cannot do this because it has made itself the arbiter of the laws we will keep and those we will discard. This fatal flaw has doomed Christendom to an ongoing compromise that will transform it into a comfortable home for the “Anti-Christ”, the man of sin, or, in the Greek “the man without the Torah”.
Given them the $135k, then prosecute, seize the property, and incarcerate for extortion.
well heck, I’m surprised the state of Oregon hasn’t forced churches to shut down for not marrying homosexuals...
Come the revolution, many of these “judges” that hide behind immunity laws will find that those laws will not protect them from the consequences of their actions. Likewise cops that do not honor their oaths.
