As long as women can pass the same rigorous tests the men have traditionally passed, they should be able to participate.
If anything at all needs to be changed to accommodate them, they should be out.
I remain unconvinced that women should be in this program at all, but this would be my bottom line.
In Los Angeles police recruits (the men) had been traditionally required to scale a wall. I don’t know the exact height. When women were allowed to join the force, they complained so the wall test was eliminated, or changed so they could pass the testing.
There are levels of competence that must be maintained to get the best candidates. If those levels of competence are reduced, then the best candidates will be joined by a lot of sub-par candidates.
I don’t agree with this in police agencies or the military, and especially the military.
We need fully capable men and women, and no dumbed down requirements should be tolerated.
