The alarm system at the Texas home of the former President George H.W. Bush was broken for at least 13 months before the Secret Service fixed it, according to a federal report released on Thursday. The disclosure is in a report by Homeland Security Inspector General John Roth who said that Secret Service personnel protecting the first President Bush noticed a failure in the alarm system at Bush's Houston home in September 2013. The alarm had outlived its recommended period of operation, the report found. The Roth report also found security equipment problems at the homes of other former presidents. Their names were redacted from the public report.

Can't keep Bush's and "other former presidents" houses secure so why are we surprised we can't keep the border secure.

We? Like G.H.W.Bush, I might not bother to keep up my alarm system, IF I HAD SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION.

Well, the Bush’s love the government so much. Reagan would have paid to fix it himself!

Read the story but don’t know if the Bushes knew the alarm was broken.

That said, I assume the Bushes or any other former prezzie is well able to afford a new security system and not be waiting on gub’mint handouts.

...looking for my outrage......

Why should it be the SS’s job to fix a malfunctioning piece of equipment? Couldn’t a Bush or a household staff member have called the alarm company?

Bush W. Bush gets no secret service protection after ten years. Clinton made that law and Obama did an executive order protecting his family for life.

So far only George W Bush son of H will be the only unprotected President in modern history (2 years from now).

No kidding! That’s been my thought as I’ve listened to this, on our local news, every hour.

I remember seeing Bar Bush at a local hardware store, years ago, in line and fishing for her credit cards. Several of us were in line behind her, and about ready to pay for her light bulbs rather than wait. I thought for a moment...is she doing this on purpose?

Hey, W....Jebbie...send HALP to your mom and dads house....their alarm is broken.

Accept Bush's name wasn't redacted. Like publishing those who own CHL permits?
