On canned foods the “best by” date is usually meaningless, for instance yesterday I opened my last can of peas that I bought in 2007.
I have tuna from 2003, lots of canned food with ‘best by’ dates of 2008, 2009, 2010.
I’ve learned to totally ignore the dates on dry pasta and rice.
Europe is learning that those meaningless dates on canned foods of generally 2 years, is causing waste by gullible people, so they are starting to eliminate them.

Last year in my “stores”, I found 2 cans of Progresso Beef Veg w/ Barley Soup from 1998, and both were fine. No dings, dents or bulges, no problem.
Big t-storms are hitting now; last storm on Monday w/ Tornado Watch, I saw a neighbor’s patio chair sliding down the street!
That reminds me, need to roll down the patio umbrella.

Rush went in the completely wrong direction on this, the preppers and people of common sense have been trying to educate those people who are throwing away fresh good food for no reason.
It isn’t intelligent to look at a can of corn you want to use for dinner, and see that it says best by March, 2015, so you throw it out.
Since almost all comments are people talking to each other and not about the show, apparently they find Rush as boring today as I do. Ranting about stale food and those evil poverty loving democrats. He has spent an hour on that. He has gotten so lazy.
