Flag fracas at Valdosta State
The Valdosta Daily Times ^

Posted on 04/21/2015 11:55:10 AM PDT by LeoWindhorse

A military veteran was detained but not charged by Valdosta State University police after she approached a group of protesters on campus who were walking on an American flag and took it from them.

Michelle Manhart, an Air Force veteran, said she was not planning to take the flag from the group, but she had heard about the group’s recent campus demonstrations and wanted to take action. [snip] The demonstrators declined to identify their group to The Valdosta Daily Times or speak with a reporter about their cause, but they did engage VSU students in heated debate.

One member of the group who declined to speak with The Valdosta Daily Times or identify himself told a VSU student that putting the American flag on the ground and walking on it was “a symbol of our protest. When a slave understands his situation and understands he doesn’t want to be in slavery, he does not respect or revere anything his slavemaster has put in front of him.”

If one watches the video of this event it is clear to see that the males are wearing muslim headgear and are wearing beards . So it's safe to say it was some sort of muz advocacy group , probably NOT student, operating on campus . Why are no media reporting on this aspect of the story ???

I thought there were laws that prevent desecrating our flag. Somebody needs to apply some serious lessons in manners to this clown. Oh wait...it's the I'm-a-victim crowd...again. If it's so damn bad here, I'd be happy to help them leave.

It was an obvious provocation.

There was a time when the cops would have pitched in and helped protect the flag. Maybe some of them wanted to in this case too, who knows.

Yeah, the cowards wouldn’t even identify their organization. Can’t believe the good people of Georgia would allow this to stand.

President William J. McKinney Issues Statement Regarding April 17 Protest

President William J. McKinney issued the following statement regarding the April 17 on-campus protest:

“The American flag represents everything that is best about our country. As the Supreme Court has held, one of those things is the right to free speech, which includes the right to disrespect even the symbol of our country. While I firmly disagree with the actions of the protesters, I understand their right to protest.”

Sounds like a commie sympathizer.

I wonder if President McKinney’s forebearance would extend to a Piss on the Koran rally or a Make Kitty Litter out of a Rainbow Flag demonstration.

Yes. She was a USAF SSgt MTI who was reprimanded for posing nude in Playboy while wearing parts of her uniform. She resigned because of the reprimand and subsequent demotion.

She also posed nude for PETA wearing a US flag which was in contact with the ground during the photo shoot.

This may be an attempt to keep her 15 minutes of fame candle going. But, anyone who was motivated enough the be an MTI and has the ribbon rack she displays in her picture can very well be motivated by love for the flag.

I commend her for intervening and hope that I would do the same under similar circumstances.
