The flight distance from Washington, District of Columbia to Miami, Florida is: 923 miles
"How stuff works" quotes the Boeing web site that says a 747 burns FIVE GALLONS PER MILE.

So, let's do the math. Obama will travel 923 miles, burning five gallons per. 4,615 gallons of fuel.
That is ONE WAY.
So, roughly 9,200 gallons of fuel will be burned so Obama can do a photo op with alligators.
One big carbon footprint.
“Obama is flying to Miami on Wednesday, “Earth Day” (aka Vladimir Lenin’s birthday) to ruin people’s visits to the Everglades.”
But, but, but...it’s for the children...
Go figure out how long it’ll take you to burn 9,200 gallons in your car. And consider: YOU are paying for your own fuel (Obama isn’tAn AND you are engaging in productive activity.
I buy about 18 gallons per week.
To get to 9,200 gallons will therefore take me about 500 weeks, or almost ten years.
You should probably factor in the support planes too. Figure at least 2 C-17’s to haul vehicles and a marine one. At least 4 F-15’s or F-22’s for escort. They’ll need a tanker too, so add a kc-135. Also most likely a 757 for security and staff. So total fuel burn will be around 50,000 gallons.
And I was smokin' dope on Boston Commons on that day
Add in the idling, air-conditioned vehicles awaiting his presence, then the miles traveled up then back down the freeway for the photo op.
