Californians are a mystery to me, and I lived amongst them for many years.

Few realize that most of the cities in which they live are named after saints of the Roman Catholic Church, were founded by Catholic missionaries, and for a century and a half were the basis of the only settlements in California.

To remove the statue of Junípero Serra is not a tragic thing. It is a stupid thing: a re-write of history.
