Gun control: Burdensome legislation won’t stop criminals from getting guns

I’m a Democrat, I’m socially liberal, and I’m a gun owner. And when I say a new law won’t stop criminals from getting guns, I hope readers will at least pause for a moment to consider. The bill’s unintended consequences will further polarize politics, while doing nothing to keep guns away from criminals.

I guess this person will classified by his fellow dems as a DINO for his proper view on the subject. After all, most dems are not as rational as this. Also, I think he meant (or was a misprint) that the town was "with OUT" an ffl requiring a 100 mile drive to be compliant.

Glad he’s aboard.

He should know the “bill’s consequences” were very much intended to restrict law abiding citizens.

Obviously no law stop any criminal from doing anything, thus it can be concluded that those proposing gun laws are not targeting criminals, they are targeting law abiding citizens.

The only question is why exactly would they be doing that? Why do they feel threatened by a law abiding citizen with a gun?

Control is the only issue. We stopped at a local McDonalds yesterday and inside sat a young man with a lip ring busily doing whatever on his smartphone while prominently diplayed on his right hip was what appeared to be a holstered S&W M&P. No issue as far as I saw by anyone in the place. Certainly didn’t bother me or my wife. Open carry is fine in most of NV. It will get the LEO attention in some areas. Same at the local Smiths(Kroger) with somebody we saw OC. As long as there isn’t a posting (valid or not) doesn’t seem to be an issue.

And what makes anyone think the objective is to keep firearms away from criminals?

Quite the contrary I’m afraid.

If laws worked, especially gun control laws, there would be no crime, people who are not supposed to have guns wouldn’t have guns, Barack Obama wouldn’t be letting thousands and thousands of illegal aliens flow across our open borders, and Hillary Clinton would be in prison for selling US missile secrets to the Chinese.

So, what is the rationale for passing more unconstitutional gun control laws?

Nice.

Seeing that would tell me that I am not in a victim zone for one, and secondly it would tell me that I am in America where my civil rights remain strong.

The whole country should be open carry IMO.

“…won’t stop criminals from getting guns.”

It’s not meant to. It’s meant to disarm 65% of the population, and leave them at the mercy of the 35%, requiring an armed takeover in the form of a “rescue” of the country by the Fed. And the sooner all of America learns that, the more bulletproof will become the 2nd Amendment.

LOL! Can you see doing OC on Broadway in NYC? People would be fainting in the street at the mere sight of a weapon.

*** Can you see doing OC on Broadway in NYC?***

Ant to think, NY used to not have a gun problem because everyone was armed.

The aim of the saner ones is to reduce the flow of guns to the criminals by reducing the number of guns that can be stolen. Of course, this is all unicorn thinking.

The Left is all about intimidation via mob action. Whether ACT-UP, Black Brunch, black rioting when upset about a verdict, whatever.

Facing armed taxpayers who are increasingly fed up, would dampen the enthusiasm of people being recruited for the next mob action.

Infringement is the first warning.
Registration is the second warning.
Disarmament is the trigger.

When guns are outlawed, only the armed man has liberty.

Well all guns used by criminals are not stolen.

Some are ghost guns, pretty much hand made without serial numbers, and they work.

Others are provided to them by the AG of the United States.

I’m a bit suspicious of their motives, even the saner ones.

“I’m a Democrat, I’m socially liberal, and I’m a gun owner”

You are still the enemy. You will vote for Hillary Clinton or whomever the Dem party nominates. You will never vote to restore the Constitutional Republic and you will lament the passing of your gun rights as your fellow Dems vote to do away with them.

Agreed — that’s why I referred to unicorn thinking. Guns are like drug in that people want them and there are other people who will provide them.

Why do they feel threatened by a law abiding citizen with a gun?

Same reason leftists, even slightly left ists, are nervous about the military and always want to downsize it and neutralize it and purge the combat experienced commanders.
