The Constitution was not a perfect document, it was created by men, not by God. That’s also why there was an amendment process to address additional issues that would come along in time. The selection of the Senators didn’t work out as intended, despite the teeth-gnashing denials of folks around here whom are very short on the history of why it failed and how much worse it would be if it were still in place today given the state political dynamics.
Anyway, I’m against recall but as long as it exists, I hope we can use it Oregon like it was used in Colorado. Getting all 3 pigs would force a 15-15 tie.
Or not because only 1 of the 3 is a State Senator and the other 2 are Representatives. ;)
You have my attention. What is your take on why the 17th was amended? I am pretty sure that what I have read is not in congruence with your thoughts, but I am willing to listen to what you think about he events leading up to the 17th..
it did not work out because ONE state ONE time could not break a deadlock and send ONE senator to DC...
THAT was the reasoning for the 17th amendment...
it was a power grab by liberals ( yes we had liberals way back then ) and it worked...
our senators now answer to no one but a political party..
