The foreign ministers of Germany and France appear to publicly back Hillary Clintons bid for the US presidency.
Laurent Fabius of France and Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany offered unusual praise for Clinton, who on Sunday revealed she was joining the race to replace Barack Obama at the helm of US government.
They were joined by Nicolas Sarkozy, the former French president.
Fabius described Clinton as an exceptional woman for a job that requires exceptional qualities, a comment Reuters called a rare show of support from a French official to a candidate for a crucial foreign election.
It came after Steinmeier on Sunday wished Clinton success in an op-ed in Bild, Germanys top-selling daily paper. Hillary Clinton ... has profiled herself not only as a reliable partner for Europe and as friend of Germany, but she has also proven she has sure instincts in world crises from Afghanistan to the Middle East, he wrote.
With Hillary Clinton, there is a woman running who is a master of the craft of politics like few other people. Above all in foreign affairs, wrote Steinmeier, according to Reuters.
The interventions from the top diplomats of two European countries were unusual, but fell short of breaking diplomatic protocol, said Quentin Peel, European fellow at Chatham House, a foreign policy thinktank.

The foreign donors to the Clinton Foundation are chiming in
Oh gosh, gee, EUROPEANS support Mrs. Clinton now I’ve GOT to support her!/sarc
Why not? They likely expect a continuation of the current weak-kneed leadership we are experiencing. Personally, the last thing I want in the WH is another head-bowing, given-’em-the-money, apologist for the USA. I would also like to see someone who will respect the Constitution and the current laws that are in place. What a refreshing change that would be.
None of their GD business.
Are they ever going to be disappointed at the election results!!
They’re waiting for their check from her.
With corrupt people, it’s all about blood and money. Let the chips fall where they may.
But ...first the money.
that settles it then /sarc
That's just it. It is the business of the elite that control the EU and others in the global stranglehold on us. Saudi Arabia has also invested heavily in this outcome. They've already bought and paid for hillary with their donations to her foundation.
Of course they expect a return for their investment.
When you think about it, aside from votes, what does 2 1/2 billion buy? She won’t run more commercials than her opponent. She won’t visit more sites than her opponent. Which leaves a ground game which she won’t monopolize.
The Republicans need to hit her on vote buying because it is clear she cannot win on policy or personality.
Well, I suspect those are the people who donated to her Foundation .. expecting something in return.
What kind of treachery will she willing participate in ..??
That's my take as well.
My concern is: Just exactly what did she promise them ..??
And they were all so right in their incontinent support for Obama.
They’re only supporting her from across the pond for her influence. If they knew her like we did they’d send their money to another NWO Communist brother....
I can’t think of a more compelling endorsement for Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and the rest of the non-Bush republican candidates.
OK...they endorsed Hillary, so I guess we shouldn’t have an election because they told us who they want. And we should listen to foreign ministers of France and Germany.
What will happen to the Clinton Foundation if Hillary! were to become President? Isn’t a bit of conflict of interest if the husband of the President is taking in millions of dollars in donations from countries and companies seeking to influence US policy?
It should have been illegal with Hillary! as SOS. How can it be any less of a problem if she were president?
