Obama meets Venezuela's Maduro at time of high tensions"...... The sanctions included blocking or freezing their property and interests in the United States and denying them entry into the country.
The U.S. government also said Venezuela was a national security threat, a claim that drew criticism from several Latin American governments.
U.S. officials later tried to downplay the security threat designation, but the issue nonetheless hung over the weekend summit that was dominated by Obama's historic meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro, Maduro's closest ally."

And this is a BFD because...?
It’s Obama’s pattern of embracing our enemies [sends loud and clear message to the Cuban people - all people who live under oppressive, brutal dictatorships - that their freedom isn’t important] while he predictably works against and abandons our allies.
Raul Castro demands U.S. return control of Guantanamo Bay
Obama says days of meddling in Latin America are past"....Mr Obama told a forum of civil society leaders in Panama City that "the days in which our agenda in this hemisphere presumed that the United States could meddle with impunity, those days are past".....
Because she represents the communist front in South America. From Cuba to Venezuela on to Brazil then Bolivia even Chile the gem of SA is lurching Left. Dilma is part of the Foro de Sao Paulo and they have rigged elections in favor of the communist candidate.
Yeah, maybe your correct no BFD. How could that possibly affect us?
Worth repeating.
Even my "Bill Clinton luvin'" Brasilian friends are having an issue with Dilma and what's she's done to their country.
I still believe they'd support the next lefty candidate who comes along once they get rid of Dilma. They seem to be back on the same track as Venezuela, although they've pulled themselves out of the fire before.
Their money is down 23% to the dollar this year alone
Sadly, this is the same story with currency through many nations including Colombia, which I had thought was running pretty smoothly.
But yes, I have been watching, too. What is interesting is the amount of protest I'm seeing. The thing is, they've been through this before with dictators, and within a generation. Then they went right back within 20 years and did the same thing all over again. They simply have further to fall this time and a different standard for currency.
I've been there during the days of the cruzeiro and cruzado. Folks I know lost everything with the crash and revaluation. They rebuilt their fortunes again.
Yet like I said, they'd vote for a socialist again.
how many of those in the pic have links to Petrobas?
Is Soros buying South America?
Will Justice prevail?? Stay tuned, batKids.
I don’t believe the Brazilians have a choice. They have something like 34 different parties and each one has “socialist” or “communist” as part of their name.
Yes...true. Even the better of the two candidates was a socialist the last election. He represented the "centrists" for Brasil. Uhhhhhng!
Just ugly enough to get past The Wookie filter in DC
They are frequently referring to the USA Founding Fathers and I am trying to help but I dont understand a word of Portuguese!
Portuguese is an amazing language. It is truly beautiful and stands out over others. Try listening to Pagode some time as well. Most folks don't care for it but I love it. Favorite music along with Vallenato now.
GO. TO. CARNAVAL!!!!! : ) Saude!
But...Portuguese sounds (to my ears) a lot like Russian! Lots of vzhe zhe vha das.
I really do have a totally different outlook on Brazilians than before I met her. They are the most wonderful people as a group but impossible to manage!
