Ted Cruz to GOP field at NRA: Prove 'you bled' fighting Barack Obama
Examiner ^ | April 11, 2015 | Joe Newby

While addressing some 4,000 NRA members on Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican now running for the White House, challenged other Republicans running for office to prove they "bled" standing for principle while fighting Barack Obama, the Washington Examiner reported Saturday. Cruz, Pau Bedard said, mocked candidates in past primaries for being all talk but no action.

"There are a lot of good men and women thinking about running in 2016 and we've been around the block before," Cruz said in a teleprompter-free speech that lasted nearly 20 minutes. "We understand that in a Republican primary and everyone stands up and says, 'Gosh diddley, I'm the most conservative guy who ever lived.'"

But, Cruz added, "somehow actions don't always seem to follow those words." Now, he said, voters need to challenge primary contenders and dare them to "show their wounds," so to speak.

"For far too long politicians have said one thing and done another," he said. "Everyone of us should ask any candidate that shows up in front of you, 'You say you believe these principles, show me. When have you stood up and fought for them, when have you bled for them, and what have you accomplished?'"

"You know," Cruz added, "I had a former boss who used to say, 'If I'm ever accused of being a Christian, I'd like there to be enough evidence to convict me.'" He went on to say the same should apply to conservatives seeking office.

"The same is true of being a conservative," he said. "In a Republican primary every candidate is going to stand up and say, 'I oppose Obamacare.' The question we ought to ask is, 'Great, when have you stood up and fought to stop Obamacare!' And every candidate is going to say they

"Yep!"

Why? Haley Barbour won last time around.

What's happened in the interim to make the Charleston straw poll a magical oracle of who will win the presidency next year?

Did the wizard in charge iron out the kinks or something?

Carter was a two term governor, also and the second worst President in histoy. The two offices are executed enitirely differently, and being a governor is not necessarily the best indicator of how someone would lead as President. The most important qualifications are character and vision. Walker is my second choice in the lineup, but I still have serious reservations about him on illegal immigration and foreign policy. We’ll just have to wait and see as the campaign moves along. Hopefully he will gain a surer footing in those areas so that we can have a good alternative.

One term governor. In those days, Georgia governors were limited to one term.

“So?”

Just a moment ago, it was “yep”——the Charleston poll meant Walker would win the presidency.

So come on, what makes you think that?

i’m not demonizing Walker. He is my second choice. I don’t expect Cruz to attack any of the other candidates.

Besides, Obama has managed to push through just about all of his hellish agenda---he's done quite a bit, and he isn't even all that bright. Imagine what Cruz, a brilliant, God-fearing, moral man, will be able to accomplish.

You underestimate the power and influence of the mainstream media.

“Nice strawman you’ve got there. I don’t recall him
saying that.”

No, nice strawman YOU’VE got there. I was not quoting what
Cruz actually stated but the position he seemed to me to
be STAKING OUT. Sorry you had to get butt hurt because I
used this (”) instead of this (’).

Do you recall that I stated that I am a Cruz supporter?
But I would rather Cruz state why he goes after Obama
policies and why he does what he does than go after fellow
GOP candidates at this point. There will be plenty of
opportunities to address the failures of the competition
during the debates when he gets to face them directly.

And that is why I have always said you are the most anti-military person I know.

Well, "Nappy," perhaps someday when you, like I, have 2 sons serving with the USMC, you'll have a leg to stand on, but until then sadly it seems your momma's basement is the closest you'll have ever been to a foxhole.

I have explained that I am pissed off because you guys screw Santorum in 2012....

Who's "you guys?" Santorum screwed himself in 2006 when he vainly cozied up to Arlen Specter in his Senate race and was instead done in by him - and then Specter followed on to become the complete (D) turn coat he always was.

Santorum was no better positioned to run as a winner of anything more than his old Senate seat thereafter or Governor possibly - but certainly not for President. Maybe he could have hoped for appointment as HHS Sec'y in a Romney or Cruz Administration, but nothing else -- and still nothing else. We noticed even you aren't supporting him this time around either.

...because you were selfish and got us Romney....

Give it a rest already. Even the guy who runs this site ultimately did.

You're a pathetic whiner, Nappy. That's why no one cares to listen to or regard any of your childish commentary.

FReegards!

Oh how funny. You are replying to a post that I wrote over 24 hours ago. I am way past reading that. I am on to other things. In fact I have been very positive with Ted Cruz today. I listened to him speak for the first time on his rebuttal of Clinton and was pretty impressed. I never heard him speak before so now I have and have a different perspective. However, if you still want to talk about old junk be my guest. If you want to keep up, go over to the Carville thread where the grown ups are. I go forward not backwards, but I will not force you to keep up with the times. If you want to rehash old threads be my guest but I will not participate. Sorry that is just how I roll.

Glad to hear you’re moving on. I had church and an afternoon of gardening and got behind. I had already seen a post about Carville, but this one had the video which was quite good. Carville may be on the wrong side, but he does know tallent when he sees it.
