Ted Cruz to GOP field at NRA: Prove 'you bled' fighting Barack Obama
Examiner ^ | April 11, 2015 | Joe Newby

While addressing some 4,000 NRA members on Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican now running for the White House, challenged other Republicans running for office to prove they "bled" standing for principle while fighting Barack Obama, the Washington Examiner reported Saturday. Cruz, Pau Bedard said, mocked candidates in past primaries for being all talk but no action.

"There are a lot of good men and women thinking about running in 2016 and we've been around the block before," Cruz said in a teleprompter-free speech that lasted nearly 20 minutes. "We understand that in a Republican primary and everyone stands up and says, 'Gosh diddley, I'm the most conservative guy who ever lived.'"

But, Cruz added, "somehow actions don't always seem to follow those words." Now, he said, voters need to challenge primary contenders and dare them to "show their wounds," so to speak.

"For far too long politicians have said one thing and done another," he said. "Everyone of us should ask any candidate that shows up in front of you, 'You say you believe these principles, show me. When have you stood up and fought for them, when have you bled for them, and what have you accomplished?'"

"You know," Cruz added, "I had a former boss who used to say, 'If I'm ever accused of being a Christian, I'd like there to be enough evidence to convict me.'" He went on to say the same should apply to conservatives seeking office.

"The same is true of being a conservative," he said. "In a Republican primary every candidate is going to stand up and say, 'I oppose Obamacare.' The question we ought to ask is, 'Great, when have you stood up and fought to stop Obamacare!' And every candidate is going to say they

What did I lie about? Everything in my post is a matter of public record. You should be careful about false accusations. No chance of me being in a fetal position. I stand tall and Proud to be a Cruz supporter.

I said if Walker wins not if Cruz wins which is highly unlikely.

One day you wonder what happened when President Walker is sworn in. Just don’t get into a fetal position over it. America will be fine with or without your support.

Knock knock! We are not against Walker here. We are for Cruz here.

Yes it is true. I get this every election cycle. Nothing new. I was for Santorum and many here thought he was Satan. I am for Walker and many think he is Hitler. What can I say? I pick the best of the best but many here would rather mediocre.

I have nothing against Walker. He happens to be my second choice.

I agree. Walker would make a great VP choice for Cruz.

Cruz and Walker are both excellent choices, and either one is well positioned to defeat the (D) challenger whoever that might be.

I tend to favor Cruz over Walker, but some have the tendency to become childish about such things, and post far too much cartoonish pap than anyone would ever care to read, while completely losing sight of who the real enemy is.

It is for this reason that I typically pass over anything "napscoordinator" posts for the simple reason that when I saw his screen name spamming virtually every thread back in 2012 I envisioned some guy in his nappy compulsively posting to FR by the flickering light of his cherished boxed set of Romper Room re-runs:

He continues to live up to that same pathetic impression this time around too.

Cruz' credentials are simply unsurpassed by other GOP contenders in the 2016 election cycle.

A hat tip to Reaganite Republican for this one:

"Now That Ted Cruz has Declared His Candidacy- You Ever Seen the Guy's Resume? Reaganite Republican ^ | 23 March 2015 Posted on ‎3‎/‎23‎/‎2015‎ ‎6‎:‎41‎:‎11‎ ‎AM by Reaganite Republican

Pretty damn impressive...

•Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 - May 2008, Cruz was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the entire country, not to mention the longest tenure in Texas history.

•Partner at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he led the firm’s U.S. Supreme Court and national appellate litigation practice.

•Cruz has authored 80+ SCOTUS briefs and presented 40+ oral arguments before The Court

•Cruz served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Cruz was the first Hispanic ever to clerk for a Chief Justice of the United States

•Described as a 'superb' constitutional lawyer, the man's considerable skills and laser-like focus were on display for all when he took oily reptile Eric Holder by the neck and made him answer the damn question.

•In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of 31 states in defense of the principle that the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.

•Cruz presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

•In addition to his victory in Heller, Cruz has successfully defended the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools and the majority of the 2003 Texas redistricting plan. Cruz also successfully defended, in Medellin v. Texas, the State of Texas against an attempt by the International Court of Justice to re-open the criminal convictions of 51 murderers on death row throughout the United States.

•Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission

•Domestic Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign.

•Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation

•Ted Cruz is currently junior US Senator from Texas. In order to win the 2012 Republican nomination for the Senate seat vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison, Cruz had to defeat Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst -heavily favored/backed by the DC old-guard GOP- in the Republican primary runoff. In the event, TEA Party favorite Cruz crushed Dewhurst, 57-43%...

he then beat Democrat Paul Sadler in the general election by a similar margin, 56-41. Cruz is also endorsed by the Tea Party Movement and the Republican Liberty Caucus.

•AWARDS: "America's Leading Lawyers for Business," Chambers USA (2009 & 2010)

"50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America," National Law Journal (2008)

"25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the Past Quarter Century," Texas Lawyer (2010)

"20 Young Hispanic Americans on the Rise," Newsweek (1999)

Traphagen Distinguished Alumnus, Harvard Law School

•On November 14, 2012, Cruz was appointed vice-chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He is now spearheading efforts in the Senate to have root-and-branch...

And that is why I have always said you are the most anti-military person I know. You constantly bash the military using my name which is so idiotic. I have explained that I am pissed off because you guys screw Santorum in 2012 because you were selfish and got us Romney who now you don’t like....go figure. And now after 8 years of a first term Senator you want to repeat it. I am for Walker because he is a two term Governor like Reagan was (who did not do everything perfectly as Governor by the way) and will make an excellent President. He has accomplished a great deal for Wisconsin and will for America. Call me whatever you want. Heck gov bean_counter calls me a transvestite every chance he gets....I think he has a fetish. But whatever, I stand on principles and I can take every name in the book from you guys. I only care about America and making it strong again. You can bully all day long....bring it on.

Walker would have accomplished nothing without a Republican legislature, but he always takes all the credit.

Precisely.

Walker didn’t enjoy a Republican majority when he was first elected, he had to convince the voters to send him one.

Cruz is running strong, yet his supporters can’t stop their attempts to demonize other Republicans.

WWTCD?

Walker didn’t enjoy a Republican majority when he was first elected, he had to convince the voters to send him one.

I've seen this mentioned in various threads before, but I am not sure what it is based upon... He had a GOP controlled legislature since January 1, 2011; he was elected in November 2010 and was sworn into office January 3, 2011, what do you mean that he "didn’t enjoy a Republican majority when he was first elected?"

As of 1/1/2011:
Wisconsin State Legislature:
House: GOP holds 60 of 99 seats
Senate: GOP holds 19 of 33 seats

(Refer to: http://www.ncsl.org/documents/statevote/LegisControl_2011.pdf)

"And now after 8 years of a first term Senator you want to repeat it. "

I'm really tired of this false comparison, just as I said to you last night.

I'll repeat Rush's view of the matter, since it makes sense and I agree with it.

The reason Obama is so destructive, so terrible, is due to his ideology, NOT his experience or lack of it. Do you really think he would be a better president if he had governed some leftwing state? Of course you don't.

Likewise, who Cruz IS will make him a successful president.

Besides, Obama has managed to push through just about all of his hellish agenda---he's done quite a bit, and he isn't even all that bright. Imagine what Cruz, a brilliant, God-fearing, moral man, will be able to accomplish.
