The Westboro Baptist Church says it will picket the memorial service of the late Rev. Robert H. Schuller on April 20.
The group often protests American soldiers' funerals, and has staged nearly 55,000 protests. In a press release posted to its website, the group says Schuller, a televangelist and author, "should have been hated."
"He called himself a Bible preacher; he should have been hated of the world, not loved; and he should have preached about hell," the release reads.
The 88-year-old Schuller died Thursday, having been diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2013. He was the host of the "Hour of Power" television program from 1970-2010, and he is the founder of the Crystal Cathedral located in Garden Grove, California.
The Westboro Baptist Church claims Schuller promoted "tolerance" and "acceptance" in terms of gay marriage.

Hmmm
Haven’t heard much out of the Westburros lately.
You notice they never actually picket the gay people they claim to abhor?
EXACTLY.
They had to lay low for a while because people found out they were just a front for a group of gay lawyers who were friends of the ex(he claims)-gay leader of the Westboro Church.
They have picketed the Matthew Shepherd play. What they certainly haven’t done is picket Muslims.
They should do more. I give them credit, hating these imbeciles is about the only thing all Americans agree on anymore.
Religious kooks always use weird prepositions. Like "...hated of the world..." and "...believe on His name..."
The Westboro wingnuts hate any Christian who doesn’t agree with their interpretation of Christianity.
If you don’t hate America, you’re destined for hell.
When I read their sign a few years ago “ God hates fags” I knew the WB bunch were off their rockers. They give Christianity a bad name. Gods love had Jesus die for all sinners—not hate them.
They are not Christians...They are leftist operatives meant to give Christians a bad name.
Why don’t these cretins just go away? I’m sure they’re anti-Christian Dem agents provocateurs.
“Im sure theyre anti-Christian Dem agents provocateurs.”
I agree. They are not Baptists, and they certainly aren’t Christian. And where do the get the money to go all over the country? How do they leave their jobs? I don’t think the group has many members.
Money. They support themselves with lawsuits when their “free-speech rights” are violated. They don't believe in the free-speech rights of others. But theirs are sacrosanct.
For example have they ever picketed a gay pride event?
They are actually Democrat Party activists paid by the DNC in order to play up anti-Christian feelings. But their shtick is pretty old at this point.
