I watched a documentary on the place years ago and the cavern is quite high, there are multistory buildings built on giant spring foundations:

Thanks for the pic!

I worked there in the early 70's and it is still hard to describe to people.

A half-acre footprint seems about right but the buildings are three-stories high so it seemed bigger.

The quarter-mile tunnel to get in also makes it seem much larger.

They also have a "lake" for a water supply.

My father-in-law (now 74) was a concrete foreman on that job.

We used to show them to the new troops and ask them what they are. They’d say they didn’t know.
