The president insists he hasn't given up on gun control, but he said he's had difficulties getting changes passed through Congress in the years since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
"What we've done is to try to do as much as we could administratively to tighten up how background checks are run, to go after illegal drug runners," President Obama told ABC News's Dr. Richard Besser during a sit-down interview at Howard University. "But I will tell you that trying to get something through Congress has proven to be very difficult. And it's heart-breaking."

Oh yes, it’s heart breaking alright, heart breaking
that an American president would try to do away with
the 2nd Amendment.
So stop sending guns to mexico ya marxist pos.
Obama: “after illegal drug runners”
How ? By arming them ?
POS communist.
more false flags a-comin.
If he would simply disarm his own democrat supporters, 94% of gun crime would evaporate. America’s prisons are chock-full of murders, rapists and gang-bangers, the overwhelming majority of which support Bronco.
I believe in 100% gun control....
Hit what you are aiming at.
Or fake flags.
It breaks my heart to have seen him and Holder and the rest of the gang basically get away with “Fast and Furious” alone. That on its own makes Watergate, which of course took down the Left’s most despised President, look like a Saturday morning cartoon by comparison.
Evil never rests, never sleeps.
This is actually a very interesting statement. Did an Obama slip of the tongue indict illegal aliens as criminals by referring to "illegal (alien) drug runners"? If not his statement makes no sense as the only logical assumption would be that he wants to go after "illegal drug runners" as opposed to "legal" drug runners.
Nailed IT!
Is there anything at all of the original America that liberals don’t want to control, change, eliminate or give away?
Liberals are always campaigning to force others to live the way they dictate.
They live in a perpetual state of frustration that other Americans are still somewhat free to do as they please.
The only thing they are “Pro-Choice” on is killing babies in the womb.
And I’m not too sure they wouldn’t just make abortions mandatory if the could.
Maybe after all the yelling something is starting to be heard.
When I worked in Process Reengineering, we found that most of the time the original rules worked fine, but over the years the workers had made changes based on individual issues or outdated methods.
The same applies here. If the government followed their rules, most of this stuff wouldn’t be an issue.
But, they would rather make a big deal out of a weed bust than take down the guys who are shooting up the inner cities. And who wouldn’t? The smokers are probably not going to shoot you.
M Kehoe says he hasn't given up on telling everyone who voted for 0bama that they are an idiot.

Guess what bambaboy....neither have WE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another Obama end-run.
All increased background checks do is make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to legally purchase a gun. They do little or nothing to address criminals and criminal use of firearms.
The people who push for increased background checks are doing it as a stopgap measure because they haven’t been successful in completly banning on sme types of guns, ammunition and magazines.
Their real objective is not to reduce crime and violence, it is to impede legal gun ownership - to make it more difficult, costly, time-consuming and troublesome to purchase a gun.
Most background checks (an estimated 80% or more) are for buyers who already own one or more guns. If those buyers wanted to commit a crime with a legally owned gun they wouldn’t need to buy a new one.
So the vast majority of the money spent by the government on the NICS system to perform background checks is spent verifying that it is still okay for people who already own guns to buy another one.
The same people who whine that it is burdensome and an infringement of civil rights to ask a voter to provide a picture ID to vote think it is perfectly okay to force a gun purchaser to pay a fee, fill out a long form with many personal questions, present a photo ID and undergo a background check before being able to exercise their 2nd amendment right to purchase a gun.
All it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing.
If the 2nd amendment falls so do the rest...
