I recall listening to his stuff as a kid. He INSPIRED the hell out of me. I saved my paper route money in order to eventually buy a Sears Silvertone audio tape recorder.
He had a powerful influence on the advertising media, not to mention a substantial number of recorded comedy albums for Capitol Records.

So YOU were the other guy they sold one to! I listened to his ‘57 radio show in real time, that, and his USA album, got me into show business.

One of the great VO guys, specializing in satire & parody. Sad to see him go. :>(

Well, two of the three radio gods of my childhood are now gone. First Jean Shepherd, now Freberg, only Ken Nordine remains with us...

I remember a show that was on here in Cleveland called “Pinhead,” but I haven’t been able to track down anything about it. My Dad was friends with a cameraman/techie at one of the tv stations in Cleveland. I’m guessing about 1950 or 51. They built our first tv from a kit. There were so many advancements in the tv tech happening very quickly, that manufacturers couldn’t keep up with them on their production models. The way to get the latest was to get a kit. There were 3 cardtables full of parts in the living room, and I wasn’t allowed in there for three weeks! But we got our tv!

Stan Freberg was one of my all-time influences in humor, satire, and parody. To me, as a young man, the Big Three in parody were Stan Freberg, Allan Sherman, and Tom Lehrer.
To: jjotto
I just assumed from the last name that he was Jewish, but his real last name is Friberg, which is Swedish.

Yes, that is a Swedish name. I should know, I have one.
