California’s Green Drought
The Wall Street Journal | April 5, 2015 | WSJ editors

Posted on 04/06/2015 12:04:54 PM PDT by fifedom

The liberals who run California have long purported that their green policies are a free (organic) lunch, but the bills are coming due. Lo, Governor Jerry Brown has mandated a 25% statewide reduction in water use. Consider this rationing a surcharge for decades of environmental excess.

From the article: environmental regulations require that about 4.4 million acre-feet of water—enough to sustain 4.4 million families and irrigate one million acres of farmland—be diverted to ecological purposes. Even in dry years, hundreds of thousands of acre feet of runoff are flushed into San Francisco Bay to protect fish in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.

The problem is the moonbeam liberals that run the state. They are knowingly driving it into the ground. Ah but we'll have a choo choo train to nowhere that no one will use. I'm thinking give the state back to Mexico, less illegals and less drug trade across borders.

Give California to Mexico, and watch them turn it into an environmental paradise.

Just like Mexico.

Talk to the Feds, it was their judge who overturned Prop 187. It's been downhill ever since.

Proposition 187

Choice Votes %

Referendum passed

Yes 5,063,537 58.93%

No 3,529,432 41.07%

And THE PEOPLE of CA were trumped by those that "govern".

One of the reasons I left SoCal...

That was a setup by the scumbag Pete Wilson. He got himself elected by claiming he supported 187 but then allowed a low-level Fed judge to delay the case for years instead of forcing her to act and then appealing it.

The judge, Mariana Pfaelzer, finally released her ruling against 187 after Wilson had left office and his RAT successor Gray Davis refused to appeal the ruling.

Wilson IMO never wanted the law since it was opposed by the usual businesses like construction, hotels, fast food, high tech who were major donors to him.

There are 38 million people in CA and a lot of them are conservatives—maybe. But they sit at home and do not vote so the place is run by an unholy alliance of the envirowackos, government unions, and trial lawyers.

“Talk to the Feds, it was their judge who overturned Prop 187. It’s been downhill ever since.”

Exactly. Almost a decade ago prop 187 passed overwhelmingly. If allowed to be implemented, it would’ve ended illegal immigration and fixed the country (not just the one state because other states would’ve followed suit).

One activist judge overturned the will of the people.

That said, I escaped Mexifornia and happy I did! Left at great expense and loss of income - but am thrilled to be around Americans and the English language again. There is an exodus of whites escaping mexifornia and planning to escape when they can, from people I’ve talked to about our escape. But if amnesty passes, the entire country will be the cesspool Mexifornia is - and there will be no where to escape to.

Once again, a RINO lies and stabs us in the back. No different from what Boohoo and his kind that were just elected to Congress did - ran as conservatives, and immediately turned around and voted as liberals.

When will we learn to quit trusting these turncoats?

I live in Calif and most of my neighbors are delusional liberals.

—Liberals tend to live in a world of limits.

—Capitalists live in a world of expanding limits via taking risks and thinking outside the box.

In Calif with our extreme drought, my neighbors are like Luddites, thinking that we must live within our water means without trying to develop new water sources (e.g. desalination, more wells, recharging aquifers in rainy years, etc.).

For more on Luddites and how they are not much different than environmental fascists today:

And let us not forget the influence of unions. Any decrease in water used will be met with a rate increase so that the unionized utilities have the same revenues.

Only the little people need suffer.
