A noose is actually a very easy knot to tie. As a kid, I got it right the first time I tried it, without any instructions or diagrams.

In the 1950s, I attended a secondary school that had lockers with locks that required keys to open.

Some of the ‘inventive’ campus groups made nooses out of plastic strands. At the end of the noose was a clasp to hold the locker keys. Nearly every student (who could afford to buy one) wore one of those nooses.

That school would be considered more of an Old West setting than a Southern setting.
