I don’t come from what people call a “military family”.

I come from a family where we all serve though, I’m not aware of any family anything about it, it is just a general patriotism that I guess we all shared, my dad enlisted in 1939 and left in 1945, my step dad served, my little brother served, my older brother, myself, and my step brother all served during the Vietnam war, I served again under Reagan, and my son served in the early 1990s, and of course all the rest, cousins, nephews, uncles, nieces, in-laws.

For a guy who never served, you sure hate those of us who have and do.

Something is wrong with you.

How nutty are you? Have you ever been in the military? Of course the military decides who is approved for your financial and housing claims. Do you think we just go up and tell them to give us our married and family benefits housing, schooling, medical care, etc, and they just rubber stamp it?

Yeah, and your testimony that your family is your family is irrelevent - right? Not to mention that if you got married in a church, but didn't get a marriage license from the State, then the military will not consider you married - right? Because your church wedding was not "legal." Right?

Go away, your lies are insulting. And your ignorance of the law is ridiculous.

Have you been in the military?

Do you think that when you go to finance to apply for separate rations, and on base housing and widow benefits, and medical treatment for kids and wives, hospital rooms, and travel and moving households, etc, that you just go up and tell them what you want, and they just automatically sign you up for all that expensive stuff all based on your word?

Do you think that two people who are just shacking up get to call themselves married for the military benefits, even though they aren’t?

Do you think a Muslim can sign up 4 wives?

By the way, I got married in the military and went through all that.

Have you been in at all?

For you to read my comments on the sanctity of marriage and the role of government in marriage and then immediately claim that I have some kind of hatred for the U.S. military (which I never even mentioned in any of my posts until you insisted on bringing that into the discussion) says an awful lot about you.

I was recruited heavily by U.S. military recruiters -- and even two of the military academies -- when I was in high school. Fortunately for me (and unfortunately for others), the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut kept me away from that kind of future. Once I read the details of the stupid rules of engagement for the U.S. Marines in Beirut -- under which the sentries at the barracks were not permitted to have loaded weapons while they stood guard -- I realized that putting your life in the hands of some @ssholes in Washington like that is a bad career move.

And that was under a conservative Republican president, mind you.

Stick to the subject - are you saying that the military will not accept a Christian church marriage that is not accompanied by a State marriage license as being legally valid?

Is that what you’re saying? Yes or no?

Your disdain and revulsion for the military and military families is unquestionable, although now it seems that it is your cowardice that drives that bitterness, and your claiming to value marriage as you seek to legitimize polygamy, gay marriage, satanic marriage, Muslim marriage, and anything that any religion or cult wants to call marriage, and you wanting to bring that to America, proves that the reality of where you are on protecting marriage, you are against us.

Are you a libertarian?

Will the military accept “marriages” that aren’t legal?

Of course not, for instance they will accept common law marriage, but only if it is a legal marriage.

If the marriage is legal, then it is, if isn’t, then it isn’t.

You have no idea what you're talking about. This conversation is over.

A punk would be the guy claiming to want to serve his country, until 241 of of our countrymen are killed, and then him deciding that military service is not for him after all.

That kind of thing drives better men to enlist.

Why won’t you answer if you have served? Since so much of what you are posting is you arguing about the internals of military life, it is relevant.

So you think the military will not accept a Christian Church wedding without a State marriage license as legal. They will not treat the married couple as husband and wife. They will deny them the legitimacy of their Christian church marriage.

Thanks for playing, Ansel.

Because as astonishing as this might be to you, you aren't qualified to judge my service AND I don't answer to you - at all.

Nor are you qualified to judge people's relationship with the military, their personal courage, the law, marriage, or the Constitution - as you've made ABUNDANTLY clear.

Go salute something, Ansel, and let the adults talk.

That isn’t what I said, I said, I said the marriage must be legal, or else it isn’t legal, regardless of what religion, or non-religion you are.

The military requires proof of your being legally married before they start sending you the money and benefits for being married, for instance the military issued identification required for your wife to come on base and to go to the military hospital and to enroll your kids into on-base schooling.

That seems shocking to you?

So you are a veteran then, is what you just said.

You didn't learn any of this stuff when you in?

Since you are a veteran, how can you be so ignorant of how it works?

Yes it is what you said, “”my service”’.

You just mentioned it a second time, and did not correct it, so yes, you say you are a veteran is what you said.

No, that's what you said.

What I said is that I don't answer to you about "my service."

Exactly, your service, not your lack of service, your military service, so you are a veteran, why are you playing these childish games?

How did you not learn anything about all this while you were in?
