Sen. Mark Kirk said Thursday he would support Loretta Lynch for attorney general, adding further momentum to her long-delayed nomination.
Kirk made his remarks during a luncheon speech appearance at the City Club. It came in response to a question from the audience. He said he visited with Lynch and spoke with her about getting federal support to crush criminal gangs in Illinois. That discussion helped to convince him, he said.
Earlier in the week, Lynchs nomination had gained a boost on Wednesday after Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) said he would support the highly respected federal prosecutor from New York. With Menendezs support on Wednesday, along with a few GOP senators already backing Lynch, her total had come to 50, enough to confirm her with Vice President Joe Biden breaking the tie. It had previously been unclear if Menendez would recuse himself from a vote on Lynch because he was indicted Wednesday on federal corruption charges.
Kirk had been one of the few GOP senators who had not publicly commented on whether he would support Lynch or not.

Another day, another whore.
Just another worthless, souless RINO.
Party needs a RINO enema. Flush them out.
And who is surprised?
Loretta Lynch is a psycho leftist who openly stated she will not enforce the law, if she doesn’t agree with it. There is no way you vote for her, unless you are a traitor to the United States.
PERIOD!
Yeah, but other than that she’s just swell...!
Historic! Transformational! Hopeful! Changey!
Make it official, Mark. Cross the aisle. And don’t come back.
The repub is a true idiot. I really find it difficult to have any respect for these smarmy losers.
Sickening.
Wonder who paid him, or is he just another corrupt and incompetent politician?
I am beginning to belive Kirk liked to hang out at the same Gay hot spots with Barry.
Despicable RINO.
Of course he will. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) is a Democrat.
