Indiana pizza shop won’t cater gay wedding, gets over $50K from supporters [$190,000 + now #74]
Washington Post ^ | April 2, 2015 | By Justin Wm. Moyer

The pizza shop in Walkerton, Ind. — a small town of about 2,200 people about 20 miles south of South Bend — doesn’t look like the epicenter of a national controversy. The black-and-white linoleum and red booths are unassuming — the decor of any take-out joint anywhere in America. A Triple XXX Root Beer will set you back $2. It even has a piano — and a prayer suggestion box.

“Every day before we open the store, we gather and pray together,” reads a sign posted in the store, which also boasts numerous crosses, including one that says “Glorify the Lord.” “If there is something you would like us to pray for, just write it down and drop it in the box.”

But Memories Pizza — “a Walkerton mainstay,” according to local media, for more than a decade — is feeling the heat of a great debate about religious freedom and gay rights. Memories has been billed by a local ABC affiliate as the “first business to publicly deny same-sex service” after Gov. Mike Pence (R) signed the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) into law. Many feel the law, which advocates say is intended to protect religious freedom, will result in discrimination against homosexuals. . .

“Think you’ll get served a drink?”
Yeah, but with sputum swimming on top.
If the pizza shop did this it would be a hate crime.
If the gay bar does it, bupkis ....

Thanks for playing and paying, flyover yokels!///
Now, you Hoosiers in District 12, get back to work in the businesses you didn’t build and pay your taxes for Capitol City’s operating expenses so they can continue to tell us how to run/ruin them////

"Many feel the law, which advocates say is intended to protect religious freedom, will result in discrimination against homosexuals. . .”

Somebody should just say, instead of backpedaling and clearing their throat, that, "Yes, in a very small number of cases, it will, and virtually all of those cases will involve a refusal to service gay weddings by business owners with strong religious views against gay marriage. The law will have little if any impact on the ability of gays to conduct their everyday business just as they always have.

And, although we can call this "discrimination," it is pretty much the same sort of discrimination that everyone uses every day when they make moral choices.

When liberals boycott Hobby Lobby, they are discriminating.

When colleges divest from oil companies, they are discriminating.

When a musician refuses to perform at a Republican event, he is discriminating.

When a liberal ad agency turns down a cigarette company, it is discriminating.

When a newspaper rejects an ad or an op-ed piece, it is discriminating.

When the mayor of Seattle prohibits city-employee travel to Indiana, he is discriminating.

Got it?

“Each of us strongly supports the positions of the NCAA and our respective institutions on the matter — that discrimination of any kind should not be tolerated,” four NCAA coaches said in a statement released via the organization’s Twitter account. “

“That lifestyle is something they choose,” he said. “I choose to be heterosexual. They choose to be homosexual. Why should I be beat over the head to go along with something they choose?”

Those words are absolutely foolish and thoughtless.

Everyone discriminates and should. Only fools do not.

Should we not discriminate against child molesters when hiring school teachers?

Should we not discriminate against thieves when hiring bank tellers?

The obvious aside religious rights are guaranteed in the Constitution and this conversation and these state laws should not even be happening.

If the people of this country had any understanding of their rights and had not allowed the Constitution to have been raped by so called civil rights lawyers we would not be having this conversation because people would have the unquestioned right to practice and live their religious convictions.

I just donated $20 and the total was over $160,000, but since Rush mentioned it, the total will go over $200,000 by 3:00 PM {if not sooner}.

Just donated. Imagine how inspired others will be if we eclipse $500K. That my friends would be news worthy and go along ways brushing the GayStapo crowd back.

It felt pretty good too.

Yes, it did. I live in The People's Republik of Connecticut, but if I'm ever in that part of Indiana, I will go out of my way to stop in and order a pizza or two from Memories Pizza.

My donation to Memories Pizza was a direct response to my IDIOT Governor Dannel P. Malloy who started the boycotts of Indiana because of its RFRA law. Believe it or not, CT passed a RFRA law 20 years ago. Malloy probably isn't even aware of it.
