THE CORPORATE-POLITICAL CONNECTION: BEYOND GAY MARRIAGE AND KILLING RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
4/2/2015 | Self

Posted on 04/02/2015 2:59:57 AM PDT by Nextrush

Big Business pressure played a big role in reducing two "tough conservative" Republicans to bowls of mush this week, but it isn't just gay marriage and religious freedom where the Corporate Elites wield influence over Republicans and Democrats.

The US Chamber of Commerce and some of the big corporate names attacking religious freedom this week have also been in the forefront of calling for "comprehensive immigration reform". Those are the code words for Amnesty for illegal immigrants and or a massive increase in work permits for people from foreign countries.

The biggest cheerleader for Common Core educational standards among GOP presidential candidates is Jeb Bush, whose campaign is raking up business-corporate related campaign contributions.

I read some articles in the Lancaster, PA newpaper recently for and against Common Core. A defender of common core was none other than David Patti, President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Business Council.

And now lets consider Obamacare. The propaganda machine that supports the Republican Establishment painted the communist-socialist label on it, but Obamacare is different from NHS in the UK and Canada's system.

Obamacare is a government regulated system of mandatory private insurance coverage that forces millions of new customers into buying the higher cost insurance from private companies. The private companies who administer the Medicaid program for poor people also benefit from the increased spending on Medicaid under Obamacare.

Big hospital groups will rake in more money under this system and the pharma industry gets another financial boost just like it did when George W. Bush rolled out Medicare Part D a decade ago.

Obamacare is government stepping in to send big bucks to private companies related to healthcare that's coming out of our pockets. That's why the Republicans are not committed to a real 100 percent repeal of Obamacare.

A word about that progressive bell and whistle in Obamacare called the "death panels". Here again the private insurance companies and big hospitals benefit from government regulation that improves their bottom line by denying costly treatment to patients.

How do government regulations and minimum wage laws help Big Business?

British journalist Peter Hitchens offers answers in a blog post from yesterday (April 1st):

"Different sorts of businessmen have different political needs. Big business, for instance is quite keen on heavy regulation, health and safety, national agreements with trade unions, minimum wages and so forth.

Small business hates regulation of this kind. That's one of the reasons why big business likes it--it's a brake on competitors and helps big industrial dinosaurs stay on top and fight off challenges from small new rivals."

As the poltical situation stands in many legislative bodies at federal and state levels right now Republicans and Democrats are debating with both parties calling for higher minimum wages. Democrats in Washington are pushing a $10.10 minimum wage.

Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon recently announced his company will have a minimum wage at $9 this year and $10 next year, putting his company virtually in synch with the Democrat Party position in an election year.

The Corporatist Uniparty political system we have in this country is pretty extensive and pretty depressing for those who believe in conservative principles, religious or economic.

in the old days we would say that all governments and societies were like a pendulum and that when they swung too far in either direction they would reverse and go back to the other extreme, or at least approach the other. However the pendulum appears to be stuck on the left side.

I see a similar situation in my world but I have to move forward and do good things and right things in my world and in essence return evil with good.

Who knows for sure what is coming down the road but it is tyranny, it is 1933 in Germany repeating itself.

We need to get business and government out of the same bed.

I don’t think accepting angry and powerful words against liberals, Democrats, Obama etc. is a substitute for meaningful conservative action. We need to see a new political party to remind Republicans that if they stay on their current cave in course and pick liberal candidates, our votes go elsewhere.

It has to be a positive party that supports all little people and small business, our Constitution and its freedoms attacking coroporate elites running our political system like UKIP does in the UK right now during the election campaign underway.

Yes, fascism is a good description for it. At the time of America’s founding, the ecosystem of monster-businesses was inconceivable, so law and popular philosophy did not account for them. That’s how they managed to overthrow the American system while operating under color of law.

Yes, fascism is a good description for it. At the time of America's founding, this economic model in which a small collection of monster-businesses controls acts alongside and sometimes throuh the government to control basically everything was inconceivable, so law and popular philosophy did not account for it. That's how these organizations managed to overthrow the American system while operating under color of law.

Sorry, I think I have it right this time:

Fascism is a good description for it. At the time of America's founding, this economic model in which a small collection of monster-businesses is closely coupled with the government, such that all these entities taken together control basically everything was inconceivable, so law and popular philosophy did not account for it. We still give lip service to American ideals because they used to be alive and we don't quite know what happened to them. In the meantime the proto-fascists of the past had the opportunity to overthrow the American system while operating under color of law, and that's what they did.
