The owners of a small pizzeria in Indiana were seemingly the first business to say they would publicly deny service to LGBT couples in the wake of Indianas new and controversial Religious Freedom Law.
Shortly after Memories Pizza owners agreed in a local newscast that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act allows them to deny service to LGBT people who wanted their pizza at a same-sex wedding, 1-star Yelp reviews rolled in denouncing the business.

It is discrimination. But sometimes that’s what a person believes their faith requires and the legal system shouldn’t be allowed to be a tool to beat them up for it.
And people have a right to refuse to do business with you because you discriminate.
The government needs to butt out of this whole thing and let us be who we are and do what we want to do up to the phrase: Your freedom to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.
We are called to do things God’s way as slaves to Him. Part of that is being a good witness where you may not want to go, Jonah wanted nothing to do with the people he was called to preach to, he sulked about it afterwards too. God is in control of your comings and goings if you are a Christian.
In other words, these are issues for clergy, etc. to hash out if they must, and ultimately it is about individual conscience towards God. The thing I might believe sinful to get involved with in a certain way, you might not believe sinful. And fine, I wish you well in your walk with God.
It is weird how the diversity folks quail when the issue comes down to diversity of association.
God doesn’t actually love everyone- this is the great progressive liberal lie- there are a great many verses In the bible talking about the things and the kinds of people God hates
Psalm 5: (4) For You [are] not a God enjoying wickedness; nor shall evil live with You. (5) The boasters shall not set themselves before Your eyes. You hate all workers of iniquity. (6) You shall destroy those speaking lies; Jehovah will despise the man of blood and deceit.
Psalm 11: (5) Jehovah tries the righteous, but His soul hates the wicked and the one loving violence.
Proverbs 3: (32) For the perverse one [is] hateful to Jehovah, but His intimacy [is] with the righteous.
Proverbs 16: (5) Everyone proud in heart [is] disgusting to Jehovah; [though] hand [join] in hand he shall not be innocent.
Proverbs 17: (15) He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, even both of them [are] disgusting to Jehovah.
Romans 9: (11) for [the children] not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of the [One] calling,
Psalm 139: (19) Surely You will slay the wicked, O God; and men of blood will turn away from me. (20) Who will maliciously speak against You? Your enemies are lifted up with vanity. (21) O Jehovah, do not I hate those hating You? And am I [not] detesting those rising against You? (22) I hate them [with] a perfect hatred; they have become my enemies.
The majority of people would find that appealing about the pizza shop. This stuff backfires on leftists as we saw with Chic Filet. They make a lot of noise and have control over large corporations. But they are a minority imposing their nasty and insane selves upon the majority.
The most important word in the english language is “why”. It is the difference between killing in self defense and 1st degree murder.
Why are the customers there? To eat? Let them eat, regardless of who they are. To eat at an event that has a purpose beyond eating? If that purpose is against your principles, you have the God given right to refuse to host the event and the first amendment protects you from the government taking that right away. You are exercising your free speech by refusing the service. It also is protected under “freedom of association”.
In instance one, you are hosting an event that has as its purpose something you are morally or some other way against.
first off, I take it you meant to say in instance two, since your first instance was termed ‘one’...
You should have a right to refuse to allow your facilities to be used for it.
that is indeed the crux of the matter, is it not? That is what this entire kerfuffle will determine.

and the bible also talks about having a perfect hatred toward the enemies of God-
Love in the verse you indicate is talking about ‘wishing them no harm’ as someone who hates someone would do- When you deal with snakes, you need to be on your guard at all times- Give them water, give them food IF they TRULY need it- however, do NOT sit to eat it with them, nor allow them to lord it over you- for they ARE your enemy and you need to treat them as such- You do not need to allow yourself to be abused by your enemies, but you do need to be ready to help IF they are TRULY in need-
[[Christ said that if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink.]]
And let me just add that these gay people demanding service- demanding that someone violate their conscience and their God is NOT what Christ was talking about- those people are NOT in need- they are simply looking to abuse someone’s faith- something an enemy WOULD do to someone they hate-
They say that Jesus loves everyone.
You have any quotes like that from Jesus?
They would cite the ‘cast the first stone’ quote.
Thanks for trying but it still seems to me that the pizza party wants it both ways. And it still strikes me as being hypocritical.
I suspect few on this forum will like the results...
Sorry but I still dont see the difference.
you are joking, are you not...?
What’s more, do it in their name.
Saw reference to such a sign on FR, not necessarily from a FReeper, but possibly from a referenced article.
Nope.
Thanks for trying but it still seems to me that the pizza party wants it both ways.
Y'know, I've ordered pizzas for quite a few events (sometimes a large number of pizzas), and I've never once had a pizzeria ask about the nature of the event. It's always been something along the lines of:
"I'll take [X] number of pizzas, delivered at [location/time]"
"OK, that'll be [cost]" "Thanks"
I’m talking about events that use their facility.
For most stuff you are exactly right. And even if you say your event is for such-and-such, they would probably supply the stuff if they are dropping off food and getting paid.
Yes, exactly analogous to the florist in my town.
If it were me personally, though, I'd put in a powered rotating door where I could hit the switch as soon as I saw them coming in.
