Family Research Council's Tony Perkins Supports Clarification of Indiana Law

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins offered support for "clarification" of Indiana's controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence held a news conference Tuesday morning to address the controversy that he admitted took him by surprise.

Critics of the law say it allows discrimination by businesses against gay people. Defenders of the law say it does no such thing — it simply allows people with religious convictions to avoid being forced to act against those beliefs. "The governor addressed the complete falsehood that RFRA is about denying people a seat in a restaurant or a room at a hotel," Perkins said Tuesday in a prepared statement posted on the group's website.

"Christians would never deny people these services, but being forced to participate in a ceremony that violates religious beliefs is completely un-American and uncivil," Perkins said. "We must ensure that religious business owners are not forced by the government to participate in a same-sex ceremony."

What needs to be clarified?

Stop playing by the Left’s rules—Settled law; move on.

Don’t even acknowledge your enemies.

A law that is more precisely worded might be a darn good idea.

Pence can kiss any talk of running for POTUS goodbye. Every conservative talkie was busy defending it and his decision then he vacilates to the godless sodomites who’ve declared war on Christianity. Proves he’s no crusader for conservativism.

If I lived in Indiana...I think there’s around 500 higher priorities in life than this religious freedom deal, and for these fools that worry about it harming them...there are countless other people out there....working day and night to steal their ID...steal their money...steal their car...or harm them.

It would be wonderful if the "clarification" was a tightening of the law for freedom. But I won't get my hopes up.

"Anti-discrimination" has been the code word for fascism.

The sodomites want to steal your conscience, and force you to “celebrate” their deviancy.

I can shoot back at the miscreant who’s trying to rob me. But the sodomites have the force of government behind their assault.

Constitutional amendment that marriage is between a man and a woman would put a stop to all of this nonsense.

If the claims about the law are smears and lies, then nothing needs to be clarified.

How about Mike Pence call a news conference and talk about Apple and Nike using slave labor to manufacture their products and selling their wares in Saudi Arabia where they execute homosexuals?

Newt Gingrich could do it. Mike Pence is a wimp by comparison.

I’ll edit to add — Mitt Romney ( if it happened to him ) wouldn’t be able to say those things you proposed either.

"Christians would never deny people these services"

Christians have to provide services to pedophiles, abortionists, etc? Which Bible says that?

I think people often confuse WHAT PEOPLE ARE and WHAT THEY DO.

BLACK is who a person is.

Homosexual is _____________ fill in the blank.

Pedophile is _______________ fill in the blank

Adulterer is ______________ fill in the blank

Fornicator is ______________ fill in the blank.

In the case of the last four (as examples ), when they come into a Christian businessman’s shop and don’t advertise the fact that they DO what they do, a Christian should serve them.

The moment they ask a Christian to PARTICIPATE in what they do ( as in gay marriage ), the Christian has to say NO. The constitution PROTECTS such right.

Unfortunately people don’t think past labels and slogans. That’s why we are in the mess we’re in.

If they don't advertise what they do you wouldn't even know. But in any case a Christian should offer to sell them a Bible, if not much else.
