Iran called for political talks between all parties in Yemen as the Saudi-led coalition on Tuesday extended its campaign of airstrikes against Houthi militants in provinces across the country.
Irans deputy foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said intervention in Yemen wouldnt solve the countrys problems and that Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies were putting themselves in a very difficult position by launching airstrikes.
We believe that the situation in Yemen should be resolved through political means only, he said in a Monday interview with the Russian state-run news channel Russia Today, the first such Iranian comments since Saudi Arabia began strikes in Yemen on Thursday. Starting a war is easy, but it is extremely hard to finish one.
Mr. Amir-Abdollahian also said the Shiite Houthi militants who have overrun large swaths of the country and forced current President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to flee to Saudi Arabia were fighting a war against terrorists, including Islamic State, Nigerias Boko Haram and Somalias al-Shabaab.
We will keep supporting the fight against terrorism in the region, he added, without disclosing direct Iranian support for the Houthi militants. Iran has repeatedly denied sending weapons to Yemen, something Saudi Arabia and its allies have contested.
Saudi Arabia and a coalition of allies, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Egypt, have so far only conducted airstrikes against Houthi positions throughout Yemen, destroying the countrys air capabilities and stunting the militants advance on the southern port of Aden.

If Iran is asking for “talks” they are getting their butts kicked...HARD! Keep up the good work!
Couldn't agree more the only time they want to talk is when they are losing.
This time it wouldn't be just your ally 0bama deciding!
I know what’s going to happen. This is going to be an Obama moment where he gets both Iran and the Saudi’s into a room to negotiate peace.
Of course the reality is they will discuss how to destroy Israel.
