FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) -- A firefight erupted Monday when two men dressed as women tried to ram a car into a National Security Agency gate at Fort Meade, killing one of them and wounding the other, officials said.
An FBI spokeswoman said the incident was not believed to be linked to terrorism.

Afghan suicide bombers hides under burqa: Five Afghan soldiers were killed and four wounded when a suicide bomber, whom the police think was a Taliban member, disguised himself as a woman and sat in the backseat of a car, then set off a bomb hidden under his burqa at an army checkpoint in Khost province of eastern Afghanistan. According to Mohammed Ayub, the regional police chief, “The bomber probably wanted to go into Khost city for a suicide attack there, but panicked and blew himself up when the soldiers started checking.” (February 2, 2006)

That was the first thing I heard on the radio, quoting the Authorities, on the morning of 9/11—that there was no reason to believe it was terrorism.
On Curtis and Kuby on WABC radio, Kuby actually said it was ridiculous, impossible, and bigoted when Curtis said it was probably Arab terrorists. Of course, Kuby is a lawyer-buffoon by trade, and a good one.
Fox news said shooting occurred when vehicle tried to flee...so it sounds like vehicle was no longer immediate threat..
There was, in fact, an announcement made on WABC radio (NYC) shortly after the second plane hit the WTC on 9/11:
"This is not terrorism."
That announcement was made during the Curtis & Kuby show (which was broadcast during "drive time" back in the early 2000s). The Curtis & Kuby show was actually almost over --and they were about to go off the air, when the first plane hit; so they were held over to continue covering the breaking news.
I don't remember which WABC radio announcer read the announcement, nor which agency (FBI?) he said had pronounced the incident to be "not terrorism."
But I remember the pronouncement like it was yesterday because of its obvious absurdity -after the second plane had hit.
Are they sure it wasn't Moochelle and Hitlery? One trying to take over the cafeteria, the other wanting to check for any Benghazi files that might have been missed by the shredder?

I was listening on my way to New Haven for a meeting. When I got there, people were of course just standing around, and didn't know what to do.

On the other hand, my Art Director (former USAF) and his wife headed right away for the Trade Center and handed out supplies to the rescue workers.
The man who is now our pastor ran downtown immediately from Midtown—he had run cross-country in college—and spent the day giving battlefield absolution to firemen headed into the Towers, and blessing the bodies of the fallen.
