Andreas Lubitz told former girlfriend he was planning an act so horrifying his name would be remembered forever He was a master of hiding his darkest thoughts and frightened his former lover so much she decided to leave him
Startling revelations add weight to claims the pilot concealed medical condition that should have stopped him flying

The muslim angle only appeared on a couple of blogs of dubious reliability. All the evidence points to this guy being a garden-variety nutcase. Although it is true that many muslims are bloodthirsty psychopaths, it is also true that not all (nor even most) bloodthirsty psychopaths are muslim.
There is no indication that he was, just some unsubstantiated rumours that all trace back to the same source.
Yes there is.
Real peculiar circumstances involving the “sick notes”. Apparently, he would go to the doctor and the doctor, using his own judgment, would inform Lubitz that he was not in a condition to fly, and then issue a sick note. But also apparently, there was no requirement that the doctor inform the airline he was unfit to fly.
So, Lubitz just tore up the sick notes and went on his scheduled flights.
Another possibility could be that Lubitz would request a sick note, and then change his mind and fly anyway. I expect the laws regarding sick notes and pilots will be reviewed along with several other procedures.
Herostratus rides again.
its more than madness, its pure hatred...pure evil....

Perhaps it’s just me, but if an airline pilot tells you that he is planning an act so horrifying his name would be remembered forever, you just might want to call someone.
Heck, if my paperboy were to make such a comment I’d be making a call.
Why so many people willingly look like idiots by repeating unsubstantiated info always amazes me.
islamist facilitator regardless of his other “reasons”.
Yep..you mix in evil plus hatred plus psychotic break and you have a really really bad ending
Would you like your doctor to report your health status to your employer? I sure wouldn’t.
There needs to be an override somewhere in the plane that will unlock the cockpit door.
‘One day I will do something that will change the system and everyone will then know my name and remember me.’
Change...
Wonder what part of “the system” he wanted to change and why.
Yep, here are the listed hippa exceptions according to the US government

It sounds to me like in this country a pilot’s MDs could not tell his firm anything about his health without his permission. Now perhaps airlines make waving this a condition of employment or should.
“And if he said this LAST YEAR why did he commit this act now..that doesnt make sense either...”
Could be this was the first time in a year that he was left alone in the cockpit so he could lock the pilot out.
Also, what kind of nutcase airline allows a 28 year old pilot? Today’s 28 year olds are equivalent to yesteryear’s 12 year olds. I also am never flying again, not that I do any flying now anyways. This event should put Lufthansa out of business. If they can’t do a better job of hiring pilots, they should be out of business and their executives in prison. What a horrible way to die for those aboard. Perfectly fine aircraft, perfectly fine weather, and they have to die because of why?
Something seems just downright ridiculous about this bit about the doctors notes. So Lubitz goes to see his doctor and the doctor writes him a note that says he should be given the day off because he was unfit to fly? Were there other times that he went to the doctor where he was told yup, no problem youre good to go today? And the fate of an aircraft depends on whether this nut chooses or doesnt choose to rip up his doctors notes?
I know, smh
Sounds a lot like a certain Ivy League dog-eater
