In Shocking Breach, U.S. Declassifies Document Revealing Some of Israel's Nuclear Capabilities

On February 12, the Pentagon quietly declassified a top-secret 386-page Department of Defense document from 1987 detailing Israel's nuclear program – the first time Israel’s alleged nuclear program has ever been officially and publically referenced by the U.S. authorities.

In the declassified document, the Pentagon reveals supposed details about Israel’s deterrence capabilities, but it kept sections on France, Germany, and Italy classified. Those sections are blacked out in the document.

The two main exceptions in the international media that wrote about the declassification at the time were the state-funded Iranian regime station Press TV and the state-funded Russian station RT.

Both these media were rumored to have been tipped off about this obscure report at the time by persons in Washington. (Both the RT and PressTV stories falsely claim that the U.S. gave Israel help in building a hydrogen bomb. This is incorrect.)

Israel might know a few things about us that it can declassify too.

One hint: The Israelis always had excellent intelligence on Africa, in part from more than a decade of arms sales of everything from Uzi submachineguns to rebuilt Sherman tanks to many of Africa's strongman regimes...including Idi Amin's Uganda, which is one reason the Israeli troops on the Entebbe raid in 1976 had pretty good intel on where and what to hit.

But they also got some fascinating info from former British colonies, in particular in Kenya, where the successful Brit intelligence operations against the Mau Mau terrorist insurgents pretty well shut that trouble down in around three years. And the Israelis, knowing that they too faced fanatical and suicidal opponents [if not necessarily cannibal ones] very carefully researched the operations of the Brit officers who systematically dismantled their oppo, and even found out who many of the informants working for the British had been. That helps explain why Obama so much despises both the British AND the Israelis.

Of course, the Maoists in the Provisional IRA didn't much like *Bloody Frank* Kitson's way of doing business either....

So Obama keeping the sections on France, Germany and Italy classified, while releasing the Israeli details ... does tell you WHO Obama is targeting!

Oh, BTW: the comparisons with U.S. non-nuclear equipment also show a pretty good picture of what the U.S. state-of-the art was in the late 1980s, just about the time we were quite interested in Saddam Husseins intentions in Kuwait, and whether or not he had a nuke or otherWMDs with which to back up his plans. .
