World-renowned author and staunch critic of Islam Ayaan Hirsi Ali appeared on the The Daily Show this week, where host Jon Stewart attempted to challenge her assertion that Islam is different from the world’s three major Abrahamic religions–Judaism, Christianity, and Islam–as Hirsi Ali asserts in her latest book, Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now.

I wish she had pointed out that the teachings and commands in the Muslim holy book (Koran) are quite different from those in the Bible. For example, the Bible commands us not to lie. The Koran says it is okay to lie to enemies and infidels.

Stewart is either dense or evil. His limited intellect combines with his irrational hatred of Christianity for a wonderful misunderstanding of history that his hipster audience will eat up.

Jon Stewart’s audience needed to hear from Hirsi. Maybe one or two bulbs have been illuminated.

Socialist (liberals) love what islam represents....a strong centralized state with no allowance for dissent and now allowance of faith in anything other than the central leadership.

Islam isn’t capable of a Reformation that will bring it out of the Dark Ages into modern civilization. Islam is the Dark Ages. If the rest of the world doesn’t come to an understanding that was so clear centuries ago, Islam will drive the world again into the Dark Ages. It’s the nature of the Beast.

Silly liberals think they can love and tolerate Islam into something it isn’t.

Folks, we have a winner!

Would that all of Christianity and America could read and fully understand these words.

Islam is not a religion.
Rather, it is a violent and tyrannical system of governing others.

Bingo! Why do you think Hitler was most comfortable with the islamists?

I bet he never read the book. I have no idea what Jon Stewart was babbling about and I am not sure he did either. If his point was that historically and even today terrible things are done in the name of religion, well I doubt anybody is going to disagree. I would much rather have heard from Ayaan Hirsi Ali how blatant misogyny and general intolerance can be removed from Islam. Then Stewart can have someone else on to talk about it in the Catholic Church and Orthodox Judaism.

Hirsi was the perfect messenger. Stewart was forced to be polite and deferential, and we all know why.

Islam is not a religion.

Rather, it is a violent and tyrannical system of governing others.

To the extent humans have an innate hunger for God (and they regularly demonstrate that this hunger exists and is preeminent in its power), Islam is also a religion in that it addresses that hunger along with its system of completely governance.

People do not blow themselves up in great numbers merely for a system of governance they will not live to see.

Islam's power is FIRST and greatest that it feeds the hunger for a god.

most Christians have “accepted tolerance and the secular state, the separation of church and state, respect for women, respect for gays,” a point with which Stewart did not fully agree.

The problem with Stewart is that he is not terribly bright and doesn't realize his limitations.

Evidently his fans have the same problem.

She probably doesn't know the Bible. And that dooms her crusade to reform islam.

Ali pointed out that there are a “growing number” of Muslims–although not as many as she would like–who are “saying that there is something wrong within our religion,” instead of “pointing their fingers towards Jews or Christians or American foreign policy.

Belief systems tend to be very deeply entrenched.

The burning of heretics, the Inquisition, torture chambers, etc. did not shake the faith of numerous Christians in the Middle Ages, and how far off the beam can anyone get? How thoroughly can anyone pervert the teachings of Jesus?

Some of history's bloodiest battles were fought to bring Europe out of this darkness.

The atrocities committed by Muslims today shock the world, but they may not be sufficient to shake the faith of the faithful.

I think you're right. In their dreams, socialists ("Liberals") see themselves in control of all this authority and power--remaking the world as they think it should be--and, of course, basking in the luxury and adulation that such power would provide!

"Liberalism" is so vile.

Those who can't see it for what it is are so stupid.

So, you would agree that mild-communism (AKA: socialism) is likewise a religion?
Wherein the governed expect the “nobless oblige” to be moderated by a moral set of values?

As to your plea to “blowing-oneself-apart”, dying a death of a faux-martyr does not justify a “religion”.

Again, Islam is NOT a religion but IS a violent and tyrannical system of governance (actually, oppression) of those who are not in a position of power within that system.

Islam feeds the hunger for an over-seer...that which will not separate the “faithful’s” head from their body.
Kinda simple.

Islam is NOT a religion.

Maybe Stewart agrees with clitorectomies. Case closed right there.

That's a strawman argument. Irrelevant to Islam being a religion.
