Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will visit the US-Mexico border on Friday with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Walker, who is considering a run for president, is aiming to bolster his credentials as a critic of President Obama's immigration policies. A photo wouldn't hurt either.
The Mexican border is now an almost mandatory pit stop for Republican politicians (especially presidential aspirants) looking for the aura of on-the-ground experience on immigration. Sure, talking to a rancher, staring across a river, and visiting a detention facility in McAllen for 30 minutes might not offer much of a big-picture perspective. But that hasn't stopped lawmakers from surveying the region in gunboats, ATVs, helicopters, and jeepsinvariably with camera crews in tow. Here's a roundup: [with pictures]
Perry
Rubio
Jindal
Cruz [with Glenn Beck]

I know Obama's been to CA, AZ, NM and TX - did he ever ask one of those states' governors to give him a tour the U.S. border with Mexico?
The implication from, “Mother Jones” is that these fellow going to the border is a problem. I am glad they all went.
That it’s even considered “political” is off the charts.
You have to remember that Obama thinks there are NO borders to visit.
Of course!
That explains it.
Good catch.
And the hottest destination for illegal Mexicans next year will be American polling booths.
It is also the US border... Right?
I'm so glad you made that point. I tried to think of a way to add that snark to the title but it wouldn't fit on the line.
It would be just fine with me if a few of them went across the border and stayed there. It seems that’s where their main allegiance lies.
They didn’t put Jeb Bush on the list.
He’s been to the border (maybe not right on it); he studied in Mexico; he met his future wife in Mexico.
That's okay, he's on mine, I'll even contribute to his ticket back.
: )
Not to worry, in the end, the Democrats hottest destination is hell and the lake of fire.
Of course, there'd be no trouble from the cartels, the Zetas, or Al Q'aeda ......
Maybe they could hitch a ride back home with the guys trying to disguise themselves as dashboards and back seats. ;)
