LINCOLN — State Sen. Ernie Chambers touched off a firestorm of criticism Wednesday after comments surfaced in which he compared police officers to the terrorist group that has beheaded American journalists and other captives during its violent takeover of parts of Syria and Iraq.
During a public hearing Friday about a bill involving concealed handguns, Chambers said residents of his north Omaha district were more in fear of police than of extremist groups such as the Islamic State.

“My ISIS is the police. Nobody from ISIS ever terrorized us as a people as the police do us daily. And they get away with it,” the African-American senator said, using an acronym for the militant group.
His comments, picked up Wednesday by Fox News, drew a rebuke from fellow State Sen. Beau McCoy of Omaha, who called them “appalling.”

Can I assume that he’s a democrat seeing Republican is not being blasted in the headline???
He’s had heavy blowback from some of his previous racist rants that have blown over or been squashed. It depends on whether the governor, state senators, and local public have the nads to press the issue. His local constituents would back him if he killed their mother, according to them he can do no wrong.
Ernie Chambers is just trying to stay relevant. Growing up Near Omaha in the 70-80’s, this piece of garbage was constantly in the news for either wearing sweatshirts to the unicameral (I see he still hasn’t given that up) or accusing the white man and North Omaha police of atrocities towards the black man.
He crawled out of the embers that was the North Omaha riots in the 60’s. Race pimp is all he ever was and all he will ever be.
