My husband had a large stroke, and he breathed normally for the first few hours. He was panic stricken, but you couldn’t tell from his breathing.

A 28 year old? Secondly, even if the guy was passed out, the plane was on auto-pilot.

Sorry to hear that, but I bet he didn't lock out his coworker and set the plane on a descending flight path after it has reached cruising altitude, however. The authorities in France and Germany are now openly stating that they think the crash was an intentional act.

Apparently the copilot wasn’t just breathing, but was handling the switches, etc. For example, even if the door is locked from the inside, it opens automatically after 5 minutes (precisely to prevent an incapacitated pilot at the controls). So he had to manually override it every time it got to that point.

Did he also keep activating the lock on the door, which unlocks after a few minutes if the correct code is used outside? This guy deliberately kept re-locking it.

The inside lock mechanism works for 5 minutes and then turns off. It needs to be turned on again via a button on the flight console. Had the co-pilot been disabled, the 18 minute descent would have been over in 5 minutes. He must have re-toggled the door lock at least 3 times.
