Welcome to Thunderdome, Ted Cruz! And wow, thats a video straight out of the consultant minds of Veep. Maybe throw in a puppy? Seriously, though, if announcing via Twitter is the new thing, Im all for it. It couldve saved us sending a reporter to Lynchburg this morning. Maybe somebody will announce via Meerkat and we can all stay at our desks and not drive somewhere to see candidates give the same speech they gave at CPAC but with a couple more paragraphs? Itd save us all a lot of time and itd be environmentally friendly, too. Lower your carbon footprint: announce by Tweet.
The Acela corridor mindset about Ted Cruz is basically: he has no path, why is he doing this, or hes a disruptive pain in the butt and should shut up and go away. Allow me to quote one of the emails I received last night on this topic: hes a disruptive pain in the butt and should shut up and go away. Yes, I understand that Cruzs approach to politics and speechmaking rubs some people the wrong way, but there is actually a counterintuitive case to be made that he has a clearer path to the nomination than his critics might like.
First: Ted Cruz matches up with the activist base better than any other significant candidate in a long time. I dont think people outside of that base really understand how powerful Cruzs appeal is to the populist energized conservative voter, which is of course just a faction of the right, but is a sizable faction. Cruzs critics need to hope that he is limited to this faction, and incapable of appealing outside of it. But that may not prove to be the case,

I campaign for candidates - I have never seen such a grass-roots excitement for a Presidential candidate in a long time.
The GOP primaries are open to independents in many states.
Cruz subtracts from Jeb Bush...not for Scott Walker. And I suspect that Cruz would subtract from Rand Paul as well.
I do agree that Cruz does great at debates...but I end seeing him as the Attorney General...not as President.
2.) He is right on all the issues and all the principles that the Republican base hold dear.
3.) He beat the pants off of RINO-Establishment David Dewhurst in a highly contested election.
Nuff said.
I sort of think he’s pain in the butt as well, but he’s a smart one, and a lot of important politicians have been people who were willing to break a few eggs, as the saying goes.
Cruz is clearly very very intelligent, and has real principles, and is able to articulate them.
I think if the Conservative movement wants to (finally) get their candidate to be the Republican nominee, that they need to coalesce around one name, and I see no reason that name shouldn’t be Cruz.
He may not check every one of your required boxes, but if there are 6 issues you really care about, and he is with you on 5 of them, you should not splinter off and find the one no-hope congressman who agrees with you on all of them.

Let the press and the dem’s and the liberals crucify Cruz and watch him rise to the presidency. What a glorious day that will be.
I do agree that Walker does great at whittling down the budget...but I end seeing him as the Secretary of Economy...not as President.
Cruz is our best hope for restoring the rule of law and taming Fedzilla.
The Cheap Labor Express has spent millions and will spend millions more to get an amnesty candidate. They wanted Jebster, but will settle for Rubio or others.
Not ‘could’ win, WILL win.
The sleeping giant has finally been awakened.
A brilliant man who believes in the Constitution and can articulate it. He is everything I need in a candidate. If I tweaked anything about him, I’d have him just not discuss personal religious issues but be strong on religious freedom for everyone.
Who do you think will be his running mate? I’d like to see Tom Cotton.
Tha base hasn’t picked the nominee in the last two Presidential cycles, unless you think Romney and McCain were the choice of the base.
It will take all conservatives rallying around Cruz to make him the nominee against all the combined power and money of the establishment. The RNC has already been paid by The Cheap Labor Express for an amnesty candidate.
Dewhurst has retired to his ranch, and is not an elected official in Texas anymore. ;)
I love saying that Dewhurst lost. I helped hard to make sure of that.

The last perfect candidate was killed by the government about 2,000 years ago.
I’ll watch him for a while to make sure he’s the real deal.(Ross Perot still chaps my ass) I fully expect to be sending him some money in the not to distant future.
RE: The last perfect candidate was killed by the government about 2,000 years ago.
And let’s not forget, the majority voted against Him and selected a thief.
My point exactly. Dole, McCain and Romney were "hold yer nose" votes. And, the RINO's got just what they deserved - a veritable no-show among the base.
