Most recipes for "Mincemeat" don't have any meat in them at all.
One wonders (at least this one does) if such a misnomer could be the root cause of various types of aberrant behavior?

IIRC, “meat” once meant any kind of food. Thus the line from Romeo and Juliet: “Thy head is as full of quarrels as an egg is full of meat.”
