WASHINGTON President Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel had a poisonous relationship long before Mr. Netanyahu swept to victory on Tuesday night in elections watched minute-by-minute at the White House.
But now that Mr. Netanyahu has won after aggressively campaigning against a Palestinian state and Mr. Obamas potential nuclear deal with Iran, the question is whether the president and prime minister can ever repair their relationship and whether Mr. Obama will even try.
On Wednesday, part of the answer seemed to be that the president would not make the effort.
In strikingly strong criticism, the White House called Mr. Netanyahus campaign rhetoric, in which he railed against Israeli Arabs because they went out to vote, an attempt to marginalize Arab-Israeli citizens and inconsistent with the values that bind Israel and the United States. The White House press secretary, Josh Earnest, told reporters traveling with Mr. Obama on Air Force One on Wednesday that Mr. Netanyahus statement was deeply concerning and it is divisive and I can tell you that these are views the administration intends to communicate directly to the Israelis.
And with Mr. Netanyahus last-minute turnaround against a Palestinian state alongside Israel, several administration officials said that the Obama administration may now agree to passage of a United Nations Security Council resolution embodying the principles of a two-state solution that would include Israels 1967 borders with Palestine and mutually agreed swaps of territory.
Those borders, the subject of contentious negotiations for decades, include the West Bank, occupied by Israel since the 1967 war. Most foreign policy experts say that Israel would have to cede territory to the Palestinians in exchange for holding on to major Jewish settlement blocks in the West Bank.
Such a Security Council resolution would be anathema to Mr. Netanyahu.

That assumes there is any interest to mend the frayed ties. On either side.
The day this country publicly and officially (we know the private bias of this administration) turns its back on Israel is the day that the Lord of the universe turns His back on us.
Scary thought.
(2) In substantive terms, our support for Israel will not change all that much.
(3) What the Gay Mombasa Magic Marxist Mulatto's admin will do is increase aid to the Muslim MFs du Jour, so as to appear more 'balanced' to the Worthy Oriental Gentlemen who are intent upon destroying Israel ... and us.
bozo is motivated entirely by Rage and Hate. Any difficulty in predicting what he will do at any given time is related mainly to failing to conceive how low he is willing to sink.
Actually, it goes deeper than that. He never had a relationship with Bibi, therefore there is nothing to repair.
I always appreciate optimism, but God has allowed many past tyrants and/or fools to go about their business un-shackled from what I can determine.
It seems that intervention of this kind is not very common, if at all.
,,,, 0bama hates Jews just like other muzzies . Who doesn’t know that ??? I know some folks have seen him give the muzzie one finger salute of approval to other hateful islamists .
King Putt has alienated all of America’s allies, and has emboldened if not outright embraced America’s enemies.
Israel will effectively shut down its intelligence contacts with the U.S., as by maintaining them Israel knows that Obama will compromise Israel’s security by sharing info with its enemies.
You are right, my friend.

Obama doesn’t have the class to try to atone for his malfeasance. He will continue to pout/smirk/belittle/traduce and will continue to plot Israel’s downfall to the Muslims.
I think the Dr Dave Janda rule applies to this story.
Reverse all talking points, turn them upside down, and you will have something closer to the truth.

I say Israel starts with Judea, Samaria, Galilee, Perea, Idumea. If the Arabs push back, throw in Decapolis and Nabatea. If the Arabs protest, throw in Phonencia and Gaulanitis.
Quota boy sure is a small little prick.
“Obama has no idea what kind of a can of worms he is opening up. A vast majority of the US population is ready to stand with Bibi rather than the Star Wars Cantina also known as the UN.”
Now would be a very good opportunity for Republican operatives to start putting up billboards of Hillary kissing Arafat’s wife, with the slogan, “What difference does it make?”
The rhetoric coming from the liberal media looks and sounds so very low and trashy compared to Bibi’s eloquence and grace when he publicly praises and thanks Obama and the USA for being a good ally.
The thought has occurred to me that this public trashing of Bibi just might be what NEEDS to be said publicly to keep Israel’s enemies off her back. I know, it sounds pollyannaish, but I keep getting the distinct feeling that there’s a whole lot more to this than meets the eye.
That’s alright. Bibi has a mandate, newly elected and lot of years to go.
Klownie the Kenyan has less than 2 years to go so BIbi was laughing...
