WASHINGTON (Reuters) - After six years of testy relations, U.S. President Barack Obama may have to resign himself to the likelihood that he has not seen the last of Benjamin Netanyahu.
A better-than-expected showing by the Israeli prime minister in Tuesdays closely fought election raises the prospect that he could remain a thorn in Obamas side, with the two men increasingly at odds over Iran diplomacy and Middle East peacemaking.
U.S. officials responded cautiously as they waited to see whether Netanyahu or his centre challenger, Isaac Herzog, would get the nod from Israels president to begin the long and messy coalition-building process.
Clearly the result that many of Obamas supporters had hoped for a repudiation by Israeli voters of Netanyahus hard-line approach was not to be. Exit polls showed that his Likud party had erased its rivals pre-election lead, putting the two sides in a dead heat....

Ha Ha!
Another defeat for the left, it seems.
“Could remain?” “Should remain.”
The always-lying First Moslem Impostor is a
poisonous miserable thorn in America’s side.
The bitter clingers in Israel decided that they are not going for the “dope and chains” kool-aide.
“...thorn in Obama’s side.”
Good.
NOBODY IN THIS COUNTRY IS TAKING THAT RESPONSIBILITY/ROLE.
Bibi’s existence is a thorn in that POS’ side... GOOD!
Wonder what it would look like if the US had a parliamentary form of government where there could be an actual vote of No Confidence. The Founding Fathers intentionally avoided that system - making us live with our stupid choices.
I wonder if Reggie Love is at the WH tonight to comfort Obama in his time of sorrow.
Once again the press portrays the opponent of the right wing as the centrist rather than the leftist.
Good, but until government is formed not a done deal, Obama may start bribing some of the smaller parties or try to get 1 or 2 Likud to switch
You mean like how most Muslims can’t stand Israel? I mean, what about this situation isn’t crystal clear?
Almost nobody, you mean.
Netanyahu should now launch a full 5th column counter attack , in releasing every exposing , derogatory , truthful information his intel services have gathered on the Kenyan since he entered office . Use cut outs and 3rd parties , Alinsky tactics , just like the Kenyans forces do . Hit them where it hurts , below the belt or anywhere else . It’s eye for an eye time . Let the games begin .
America and the Congress need the unavoidable ammo to launch impeachment proceedings . Bibi might have that . Let fly !
Good, but I would like it to be something much more unpleasant than a thorn in the side.............A red hot poker up his (cannot say, he might enjoy that sort of stuff) would be better.
Could? Make that WILL.
Didn’t they mean that Obama would still be a thorn in Bibi’s side?
GOOD!
