I don't know the laws over there on speaking or campaigning on Election Day ... so I guess this depends on the exact law and what it specifically says. What happened here is that the judge ruled that it couldn't be broadcast, although Netanyahu still could speak out. But, of course, if there is no media broadcast, then nobody outside of those right there at the press conference will hear it.

The American judiciary can only dream about having the discretion to determine what is 'propaganda' and what is legitimate campaigning.
I can only image how that would work out here.

I’m not Israeli and have no dog in this fight. It’s their election. That said...
“Judge Salim Joubran, chairman of the Central Elections Committee has decided to ban Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recorded message from radio and television broadcast, since it was of a propagandist nature.”
Isn’t that kinda the whole point of an election speech? This sounds bizarre. I wonder if there is more to this than I am grasping.

The fact that Israel lets Arab Nazis vote at all — let alone permits an Arab to RUN the elections committee — shows how truly suicidal they are.

“MK Ahmad Tibi (Joint List) stated Netanyahu’s words stem from fear of losing his premiership.”
Somehow, I think he’s much more worried about losing his country. He’s fought for it for a good many years and it must pain him terribly to see liberals trying to bargain it away.
