But the lessons I learned . . . were about . . . making mistakes, learning to live without so much fear, owning up to my dark side and, eventually, finding out the difference between being a “good girl” and a good person.

I've learned a lot by making mistakes - they are sometimes unavoidable but always a mistake. Mistakes should never be celebrated. As for owning up to our dark side, I have a dark side too. The difference is I consider it a bad thing, and I resist it with all my energy. God does not celebrate our dark side, and I would prefer to follow God as presented in scripture, rather than following a woman with the morals of a frat boy as presented in a memoir.

How absolutely correct you are! Sometimes I give in to my dark side, but I always regret it when I do.

We all make mistakes, we all sin. But it’s whether we wallow in in them, or try to abandon them (successful or not) that separates the winners from the losers. IMO
