Vladimir Putin is 'alive' but 'neutralised' as shadowy security chiefs stage a stealthy coup in Moscow, it was claimed last night.
Former FSB chief Nikolai Patrushev was behind the plot, claimed chairman of the pro-Kremlin national Islamic Committee, Geydar Dzhemal.
Snip...
'I think that Putin is neutralised at the moment, but of course, he is alive,' said Dzhemal, seen as a Kremlin loyalist. 'He is under the control of the power-wielding agencies, who have, in my opinion, organised a coup d'etat.'

'My information is that Patrushev met Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov in Pyatigorsk on 11 March and tempted him over to his side.'
With feverish speculation in Moscow over Putin's health and whereabouts, and claims of a bitter power struggle in his entourage which could even trigger an attempted coup, the head of Chechnya spoke emotionally of people 'trying to harm the president of Russia - and Russia itself'. And he claimed that forces were scheming 'to break us apart', referring to him and his guarantor Putin.

The voices of prime minister Dmitry Medvedev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Chief of the Kremlin staff Sergei Ivanov - and Putin's intelligence tsars - have remained silent. Kadyrov has enjoyed extraordinary power and largesse under Putin as a reward for keeping an iron grip on the rebellious oil-rich Chechen region, scene of two bloody wars since the collapse of the USSR. As a result he is hated by many senior Putin loyalists. But Kadyrov's enemies claimed yesterday that the 38 year old bearded regional potentate is in 'panic' because he can no longer contact his mentor. 'He is phoning anyone he can in an attempt to arrange a talk with Putin - but he fails,' alleged a website linked to Islamic hardliners seeking to overthrow Kadyrov.

Either that, or Putin is merely kicking back, celebrating with his gf.
(or maybe he even got married?)
Ah, Russians.
Putin ping!
I don’t think there’s any truth to the rumors.
If he died, Russian state TV and radio would be playing funereal music.
Of course, tomorrow we’ll see if Putin meets the President Of Kyrgyzstan in his native city of St. Petersburg.
Let me guess. Christian hating and homo loving begin in Russia in 3,2,1....
He’s waiting somewhere to see who celebrates.
Thanks, background here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3267347/posts
Another FReeper guessed, and I agree, he DID go to Switzerland for his girlfriend’s birth and Russia told him he couldn’t come back.
The most likely explanation is unfortunately not very dramatic. There is a fairly brutal flue epidemic in Moscow that has reportedly floored around half the population. According to various reports it’s a nasty strain that leaves its victims prostrate for days and can take well over a week to bounce back from. Invoking Occam’s Razor, my money says he has a bad case of the grippe and the Russians just can’t bear admitting that their great leader can be felled by something so mundane.
Perhaps it is not Patrushev, but Primakov that is behind this: http://glavpost.com/post/14mar2015/blogs/19500-pavlo-pravyy-ultimatum-primakova-v-deystvii.html
He and Obama are working on their NCAA brackets this weekend.
Would be nice if Obozo went to play golf in a foreign country and we told him to stay there.
He was flown to an airport near his dacha, where he spent the rest of his life. But he wasn't flown back to Moscow.
I would say that Putin has been Russia’s most powerful leader, in terms of real executive leadership not dictatorial powers, since perhaps Peter the Great.
Another report is that he hurt his back riding a bear and is being treated at home by a Viennese orthopedist. The bear was annoyed to be awakened from hibernation.

Well I had it here in the US...and let me tell you you are really put down with this stuff....I actually broke blood vessels coughing ....and not uncommon to relapse, which I did 2 days later after returning to work, for another two weeks.
It was two months before I really felt like things were getting normal again. The cough hangs on forever!
I have to say the worst illness I had in my lifetime.
